Job Title: Senior Project Manager - Large-Scale Engineering & Simulation Programs (Power & Energy)Job Description

This role leads the delivery of large-scale, high-visibility simulation and engineering programs for clients in the power and energy sector. The Senior Project Manager oversees the entire project lifecycle-from contract award through final customer acceptance-ensuring projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to rigorous quality standards. The position requires extensive experience managing complex engineering or industrial projects, directing cross-functional technical teams, and serving as the primary point of contact for key client stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the successful execution of large, complex simulation and engineering projects from initiation through completion, ensuring safety, schedule, budget, and quality objectives are met.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive project execution plans aligned with customer requirements, contractual commitments, and organizational standards.
  • Provide clear leadership, guidance, and direction to multidisciplinary engineering and technical teams, including mechanical, electrical, project engineering, and automation resources.
  • Foster strong collaboration and communication across engineering, production, quality, and all project stakeholders to ensure alignment and timely decision-making.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing project performance, delivery efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize integrated project schedules, identifying critical paths and ensuring achievement of key milestones and deliverables.
  • Monitor project progress closely, proactively resolving schedule conflicts, resource constraints, and emerging risks to keep projects on track.
  • Coordinate staffing and resource allocation across multiple engineering disciplines, balancing workload and priorities across concurrent projects.
  • Track and report key project performance indicators, including schedule adherence, productivity, quality metrics, and overall execution performance.
  • Own the financial performance of assigned projects, including budget development, forecasting, cost tracking, and profitability management.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate technical, financial, contractual, and schedule-related risks, maintaining a robust project risk register.
  • Manage scope changes, contract modifications, and formal change-order processes to protect project margins while maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Drive cost-control initiatives without compromising safety, quality, or customer satisfaction.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the project lifecycle, providing clear, timely, and professional communication.
  • Lead project reviews, executive updates, milestone meetings, and status reporting for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication, transparency, and reliable delivery performance.
  • Collaborate effectively with subcontractors, vendors, technology partners, and internal teams to support successful project execution and integration.
  • Travel to customer sites as needed to support project reviews, testing activities, commissioning milestones, and final acceptance.
  • Ensure project execution complies with relevant industry standards, customer requirements, and internal quality management processes.
  • Establish and manage quality checkpoints throughout the project lifecycle to reduce rework and ensure successful outcomes.
  • Capture and document lessons learned, contributing to continuous improvement and the refinement of project management best practices.
  • Standardize project documentation, reporting processes, and methodologies across programs to drive consistency and efficiency.
  • Assist with proposal development, including scope definition, estimation, project planning, and execution strategies for new opportunities.
  • Support client presentations, technical discussions, and strategic conversations related to future project opportunities and long-term partnerships.
  • Contribute project delivery expertise to business development activities and help drive long-term growth in engineering and simulation services.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor"s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical discipline preferred; equivalent technical or project management experience will be considered.
  • 10+ years of proven project management experience leading large-scale engineering, industrial, simulation, automation, or technical projects.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-million-dollar project budgets, schedules, and delivery outcomes with clear ownership of results.
  • Hands-on experience with risk management, change management, and contract administration in complex project environments.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering and technical teams, including mechanical, electrical, and project engineering disciplines.
  • Strong project estimation and cost-control skills, including the ability to develop and validate project estimates and manage CAPEX-focused initiatives.
  • Excellent customer-facing communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with a structured approach to issue resolution and decision-making.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, executive leadership, and customers, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed to support project execution, testing, and customer engagements.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in power generation, utilities, nuclear, energy, or related heavy industrial sectors.
  • Previous experience managing simulation, controls, industrial automation, software, or engineering services projects.
  • PMP certification or an equivalent project management credential.
  • Experience supporting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, or startup activities.
  • Background in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related technical fields.
  • Experience with CAPEX projects and capital project delivery in industrial or energy environments.
  • Strong project coordination skills, including interface management with subcontractors, vendors, and technology partners.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation and control systems within engineering project contexts.

Work Environment

The role operates in a dynamic, project-driven environment focused on delivering complex simulation and engineering solutions to the power and energy industry. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering, production, quality, and project teams, as well as external subcontractors, vendors, and technology partners. Work typically takes place in a combination of office and engineering settings, with regular use of project management tools, scheduling software, and standard office technologies. The position involves periodic travel to customer sites, test facilities, and industrial locations to support project reviews, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, and final acceptance activities. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jacksonville, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $82.00/hr.
