Project Manager, K-12 Construction — Build the Schools Your Community Learns In
Las Vegas, NV | Full-Time, Exempt | $115,000 – $135,000
The Opportunity
Few projects mean more to a community than a new school — and few test a PM's skills like building one. Our client, one of the Southwest's largest general contractors with 50 years of building and deep public works experience, is hiring a Project Manager with K-12 experience for ground-up school projects in the Las Vegas Valley. District stakeholders, public funding requirements, summer-critical schedules, and campuses that have to open on time for the first bell — this work rewards PMs who can plan sharp and deliver clean.
Why You'll Love It
- Work that shows: Drive past a school you built, full of kids — few projects pay off like that
- Ground-up ownership: Full project leadership from precon through ribbon cutting
- Steady public pipeline: K-12 work means a durable backlog, not feast-or-famine
- Full benefits + Nevada: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, parental leave, PTO — no state income tax
What You'll Do
- Lead ground-up K-12 projects end to end — budget, schedule, quality, safety, and stakeholder satisfaction
- Own project financials: cost reports, forecasts, billings, and change management under public-funding scrutiny
- Manage subcontractor buyout, contracts, and performance, including prevailing wage compliance
- Drive schedules built around school-calendar realities — hard opening dates and summer-critical phases
- Lead OAC meetings with district representatives, architects, and construction managers
- Navigate public agency requirements — permitting, inspections, and jurisdictional coordination
- Manage RFI, submittal, and procurement workflows to keep long-lead items ahead of schedule
- Oversee closeout, commissioning, and turnover so campuses open ready for students
- Mentor APMs and Project Engineers on your team
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field — or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of commercial construction project management with a general contractor
- K-12 or public works ground-up experience strongly preferred — school district stakeholder management is a major plus
- Working knowledge of public bidding, prevailing wage, and agency compliance requirements
- Command of contracts, cost control, scheduling (P6/MS Project), and change management
- Proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office
- Clear, patient communication style suited to public stakeholders and community settings
- Comfort working from a job trailer on an active construction site
