BC, Alberta or Saskatchewan
Colony Construction is adding an experienced Project Manager as the company takes on larger industrial and heavy industrial projects across Canada.
We’re specifically looking for someone who already understands structural steel and/or PEMB construction and has enough project ownership to manage work from the GC / Prime Contractor side.
This may be particularly interesting if you are:
managing steel or PEMB projects and want to move into broader GC / Prime Contractor ownership, or
already with a larger General Contractor and want more autonomy, less layering and more direct responsibility for the projects you run.
This is a hands-on PM position with responsibility from award through closeout.
You’ll own:
Budget, forecasting and project financials
Schedule and overall project delivery
Structural steel, PEMB and supporting trade scopes
Subcontractors, suppliers and consultants
Procurement
RFIs, submittals, shop drawings and project documentation
Contracts, purchase orders and change management
Client communication
Coordination with Superintendents and field teams
Turnover and closeout
The expectation is that you understand what is happening on the project, make decisions and take responsibility for getting issues resolved.
Colony is growing, but it is still small enough that strong PMs have direct access to the people making decisions.
There are fewer layers between the PM, the field and leadership.
That means more ownership, but also more influence over how your projects are actually delivered.
For someone coming from a steel or PEMB contractor, the opportunity is to broaden your scope beyond one portion of the project and take on the full GC / Prime Contractor picture.
For someone coming from a larger GC, the appeal may be the ability to own more of the project yourself and have a more visible impact as the company grows.
We’re not looking for a general commercial PM who would need to learn steel construction from scratch.
The right person will have:
Direct structural steel and/or PEMB project experience
PM-level responsibility
Industrial or heavy industrial construction exposure
Budget and schedule accountability
Experience managing subcontractors and suppliers
Strong drawings/specifications and construction documentation knowledge
Enough project ownership to work independently
Experience with civil, concrete, mechanical and electrical coordination is helpful.
There is a real travel component to this role.
Some projects require a 14 days on / 7 days off site rotation, potentially for an extended period. Additional compensation is provided while working rotational assignments.
Other projects may involve remote work with regular travel and site visits.
Candidates can be based in British Columbia, Alberta or Saskatchewan.
If the projects, level of ownership and direction Colony is heading sound like they could make sense for you, complete the short application below. It gives us enough information to understand your background and whether there is a good reason to have a conversation.
If there is, we’ll connect directly and share more about the projects, the team and what the opportunity could look like for you.
