POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for overseeing the FT A, Operating and Capital Projects/Programs for the installation, repair and maintenance of fixed and non-fixed equipment as well as building improvements throughout NYCT's DOB/MTA Bus Facilities. The position is also responsible for construction management, administration, testing, inspection and completion of beneficial use. Requires significant interaction with the Operating Departments, Capital Planning and Budget, Procurement, Estimating, Scheduling, and the Design team. Responds to emergencies, develops project scope, responsible for the design/oversight of all engineering projects, and the development of contract specifications for facilities. Manages grant updates/reporting. Coordinates with Depot Management on the phasing of all construction activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs the FTA, Operating and Capital Projects/Programs for the installation, repair and maintenance of fixed and non-fixed equipment as well as building improvements throughout DOB/MTA Bus facilities.

  • Manages both in-house forces and contracts administration resulting in safe and cost effective facilities.

  • Directs construction management, administration, testing, inspection and completion of beneficial use.

  • Performs daily inspections of construction activities to ensure conformance with construction documents/standards.

  • Requires significant interaction with the Operating Departments, Capital Planning and Budget, Procurement, Estimating, Scheduling, and the Design team.

  • Manages grant updates and reporting. Reviews plans and specifications & performs constructability reviews.

  • Responds to emergencies, develops project scope, responsible for the design and oversight of engineering projects, and the development of contract needs and specifications for facilities. Maintains all construction documentation such as logs and packages for AWO, RFI, and Shop Drawings Submissions & Permits.

  • Coordinates with Depot Management on the phasing of all construction activities to minimize impact on the depot operations. Ensures all construction activities are conducted in a safe and efficient manner.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Engineering or Satisfactory Equivalent of Education and Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • 7 years of Professional Experience.

  • 3 years of Managerial/Supervisory Experience.

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Knowledge of DOB operating policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of NYCT rules and regulations.

  • Knowledge of building construction, maintenance procedures, pay practices, material costs, building trades, labor contracts, depot operations and final construction inspection procedures.

  • Excellent supervisory skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
