Project Manager

The Project Manager is responsible for the financial, contractual, and operational success of assigned utility-scale Solar and Battery Energy Storage (BESS) projects from project turnover through final closeout. This role serves as the business leader for each project, with primary responsibility for estimating support, budgeting, forecasting, production tracking, procurement coordination, contract administration, and client communication. The Project Manager works in partnership with a dedicated Construction Manager, who is responsible for field execution, labor management, safety, and daily construction activities. The Project Manager ensures the Construction Manager has the information, materials, budget, and support necessary to execute the work successfully while maintaining overall financial accountability.

Financial Management

\n

· Own overall project financial performance from turnover through closeout.

\n

· Develop and maintain accurate cost forecasts.

\n

· Prepare monthly Cost-to-Complete projections.

\n

· Monitor budgets, commitments, actual costs, and earned revenue.

\n

· Analyze labor productivity and production trends.

\n

· Identify financial risks and implement corrective actions.

\n

· Prepare monthly WIP reporting.

\n

· Manage project cash flow and billing milestones.

\n

· Support executive management with financial reporting and project performance analysis.

\n

Estimating & Commercial Management

\n

· Participate in project turnover from estimating.

\n

· Review estimate assumptions, production rates, and project risks.

\n

· Validate actual production against estimated production.

\n

· Develop pricing for change orders.

\n

· Negotiate owner and subcontractor changes.

\n

· Identify scope gaps and potential cost exposure.

\n

Production Planning & Performance Tracking

\n

· Coordinate with the Construction Manager to develop and monitor production plans for civil work, foundations, structural steel, tracker installation, mechanical completion, DC electrical, MV collection systems, BESS installation, substations, testing, and commissioning.

\n

· Prepare weekly production reports.

\n

· Track installed quantities and productivity.

\n

· Analyze labor efficiency and equipment utilization.

\n

· Develop recovery plans and forecast remaining production.

\n

Project Controls

\n

· Maintain budget management, schedule monitoring, procurement tracking, quantity tracking, production reporting, cost forecasting, labor productivity, and change management.

\n

· Develop dashboards comparing Budget vs. Actual Cost, Planned vs. Installed Quantities, Labor Hours, Equipment Hours, Productivity Rates, Percent Complete, and Cost to Complete.

\n

Project Coordination

\n

· Coordinate with the Construction Manager and support departments to ensure successful execution.

\n

· Facilitate communication between field operations, engineering, procurement, and executive leadership.

\n

· Coordinate material deliveries and subcontractor activities.

\n

· Monitor schedule milestones and identify potential impacts.

\n

· Support project planning and resource allocation.

\n

· Track critical procurement and long-lead equipment.

\n

· Assist in resolving commercial and operational issues affecting project performance.

\n

Procurement

\n

· Coordinate purchasing of long-lead equipment, major electrical equipment, balance of system materials, rental equipment, subcontractors, logistics, and delivery schedules.

\n

· Monitor procurement status against schedule and budget.

\n

Client Management

\n

· Lead owner progress meetings.

\n

· Present financial and schedule updates.

\n

· Manage RFIs and contract correspondence.

\n

· Negotiate change orders.

\n

· Manage contractual obligations.

\n

· Build long-term client relationships.

\n

Required Qualifications

\n

· Minimum of 5 years of Project Management experience on utility-scale Solar, BESS, Substation, or Heavy Electrical projects.

\n

· Strong electrical construction background required.

\n

· Experience managing projects exceeding $20 million preferred.

\n

· Proven experience with project estimating, forecasting, budgeting, and financial management.

\n

· Strong understanding of production tracking and productivity analysis.

\n

· Experience pricing and negotiating change orders.

\n

· Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.

\n

· Experience with Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.

\n

· Ability to travel as required.
