    Description

Deacon Construction is seeking a driven Project Manager to lead fast-paced, high-touch projects in our Special Projects Division (SPD) serving the greater Seattle market. If you excel at client service, thrive on tight timelines, and love mentoring nimble teams, let’s talk.

Why Join Deacon’s Special Projects Division?
    • People-first culture – mentorship, training, and clear growth paths.
    • Meaningful work – interior remodels, tenant improvements, adaptive-reuse, and bite-size ground-ups that keep Seattle’s built environment fresh and functional.
    • Stability & growth – privately held, financially strong, and expanding throughout the West Coast.
    • Community & connection – volunteer events, summer picnics, and a safety culture that puts people first.

    About the Role
As SPD Project Manager, you will own each assignment from award through close-out—protecting budgets, compressing schedules, and keeping clients in the loop. You’ll partner with Superintendents and self-perform crews to deliver jobs safely, on time, and profitably while living Deacon’s core values of Integrity, Teamwork, and Commitment to Excellence.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Financial performance – build detailed budgets, track cost codes, approve invoices, and guard positive margins.
    • Schedule management – develop rapid-turn schedules; issue look-ahead updates and recovery plans.
    • Contract administration – negotiate subcontracts, ensure strict compliance with scopes, specs, and owner contracts.
    • Client & partner relations – cultivate long-term relationships with owners, architects, and trade partners; provide transparent, timely reporting.
    • Team leadership – manage, train, and mentor project engineers and coordinators; foster a collaborative, accountable atmosphere.
    • Risk & quality – drive RFIs, submittals, change orders, QA/QC, inspections, and testing.
    • Close-out – compile as-builts, warranties, O&M manuals, and final accounting for a smooth turnover.

    Qualifications & Skills
    • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
    • 3+ years managing commercial construction projects (TI, interiors, or special projects preferred).
    • Solid grasp of estimating, scheduling, contract law, and construction means & methods.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with MS Project, Procore, or similar PM tools.
    • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills—able to juggle multiple priorities with urgency.
    Preferred
    • Experience in one or more SPD focus areas: retail refreshes, hospitality renovations, healthcare tenant improvements, creative office build-outs.
    • LEED AP, CCM, or PMP certification.

    What We Offer
    • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits.
    • 401(k) with company match.
    • Performance bonus program.
    • Professional development support—tuition, certifications, and leadership training.
    • Paid time off, holidays, and fun company events.
