Project Manager

Location: San Antonio, TX and Surrounding Areas

Employment Type: Direct Hire | Full-Time

Compensation: Up to $140,000 annually (flexible based on experience)

Travel: Approximately 25% travel to project sites, including occasional overnight travel

Position Overview

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee utility, transmission line, and electric substation projects from initiation through completion. This role is responsible for managing project schedules, budgets, resources, client relationships, and project profitability while ensuring successful project delivery.

The ideal candidate will have experience leading engineering or utility infrastructure projects, managing cross-functional teams, and maintaining strong client relationships while delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

  • Manage projects from initiation through closeout while maintaining scope, schedule, budget, and profitability objectives.

  • Develop project schedules, budgets, cash flow forecasts, and resource allocation plans.

  • Create work breakdown structures and assign resources to project tasks.

  • Lead project kickoff meetings and communicate project objectives, timelines, deliverables, and expectations.

  • Monitor project progress and provide regular status updates to stakeholders.

  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Manage project closeout activities and ensure successful delivery of all project requirements.

Client Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout project execution.

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication.

  • Respond to client inquiries and requests in a timely manner.

  • Provide regular project status reports and updates.

  • Monitor client satisfaction and resolve issues as needed.

Team Leadership & Coordination

  • Coordinate activities between engineering teams, contractors, field personnel, and stakeholders.

  • Facilitate communication regarding staffing requirements, project schedules, and deadlines.

  • Resolve scheduling conflicts and resource constraints.

  • Support project teams by removing obstacles and addressing operational challenges.

  • Maintain consistent communication with all project stakeholders.

Proposal Development & Project Support

  • Collaborate with leadership to develop project proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and deliverable timelines.

  • Assist with project planning and forecasting activities.

  • Support business development efforts and project pursuits as needed.

Performance & Reporting

  • Participate in project review meetings and provide project updates.

  • Track project financial performance, budgets, and resource utilization.

  • Complete accurate time reporting and expense documentation.

  • Provide feedback regarding team performance and project execution.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Project Manager or Project Coordinator.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting transmission line, electric substation, utility, or engineering projects.

  • Experience managing project schedules, budgets, and client relationships.

  • Experience working directly with material manufacturers supporting transmission line or high-voltage electric substation projects.

  • Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to travel approximately 25%, including occasional overnight travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Utility Infrastructure Project experience.

  • Electric Substation Project experience.

  • High-Voltage Transmission Project experience.

  • Engineering Consulting experience.

  • Professional Engineering (PE), EIT, PMP, or related certifications are a plus.
