My Client is is seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee daily field operations for complex heavy civil, utility, and site development projects throughout New Jersey. The Superintendent will be responsible for workforce leadership, project execution, safety, quality control, scheduling, and coordination with Project Managers, subcontractors, clients, and field personnel.

Job Description
Field Operations Leadership
- Direct all day-to-day construction activities on assigned heavy civil and utility projects.
- Lead craft labor, foremen, operators, truck drivers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Develop and execute weekly work plans to achieve project milestones and production goals.
- Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractor resources.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with plans and specifications.
- Maintain continuous communication with Project Managers regarding project status, schedule, productivity, and challenges.
Utility & Civil Construction Oversight
- Manage construction activities involving:
- Sanitary sewer systems
- Storm sewer systems
- Water main installations
- Force mains
- Utility relocations
- Earthwork and grading
- Roadway construction
- Asphalt paving
- Site development
- Stormwater management systems
- Wastewater infrastructure projects.
Scheduling & Production Management
- Monitor daily production rates and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Coordinate material deliveries and equipment utilization to avoid project delays.
- Review short-term schedules and proactively identify potential impacts to project completion.
- Manage field logistics and sequencing to maximize efficiency and productivity.
- Assist in developing recovery plans when schedule challenges arise.
Safety & Quality Control
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on all job sites.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety requirements, and project-specific safety plans.
- Conduct daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and site inspections.
- Identify and mitigate jobsite hazards.
- Ensure all work meets project specifications, quality standards, and client expectations.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, and punch-list activities.
Client & Team Coordination
- Serve as the primary field representative with owners, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors.
- Participate in project meetings and provide progress updates.
- Resolve field issues professionally and efficiently.
- Mentor and develop field staff and future leaders within the organization.
- Foster teamwork and accountability across all project stakeholders.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and maintain daily reports, production records, equipment logs, and safety documentation.
- Track quantities installed and support project cost-control efforts.
- Document site conditions, delays, change-order impacts, and project progress.
- Assist project management with project forecasting and closeout activities.

The Successful Applicant
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience managing field operations on heavy civil, utility, site development, or infrastructure construction projects.
- Proven experience supervising large field crews and subcontractors.
- Strong understanding of underground utility construction, earthwork, grading, and site development.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and utility plans.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout New Jersey.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification.
- Experience with municipal, county, state, and private development projects.
- Strong knowledge of water, sewer, stormwater, and roadway construction practices.
- Experience working with GPS grade control, utility coordination, and production tracking systems.
- CDL license is a plus.
