Project Manager – Tax Team
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to support a large, fast-moving team building an innovative AI-enabled tax solution. This is the company's largest team and includes approximately 10 CPAs and 20 engineers dedicated specifically to the Tax product.
The team has developed a strong solution and established relationships with several notable clients. As the product continues to mature, the organization is adding dedicated leadership to create greater structure, refine its direction, resolve process gaps, and evolve the existing solution into a more cohesive and scalable product.
This is a nontechnical Project Manager position focused on people, organization, communication, and execution. The Project Manager will work closely with the Tax team, engineers, and two Tax Product Managers—one focused on direct tax and the other on indirect tax—to keep priorities, stakeholders, and deliverables aligned.
Key Responsibilities

• Manage projects, priorities, timelines, dependencies, and deliverables across the Tax organization.
• Coordinate work among approximately 10 CPAs, 20 engineers, Tax Product Managers, business leaders, and other stakeholders.
• Partner with the direct- and indirect-tax Product Managers to translate product priorities into organized and executable project plans.
• Establish structure, processes, and visibility across multiple ongoing workstreams.
• Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, action-item trackers, and status reports.
• Facilitate team meetings, document decisions, assign action items, and ensure consistent follow-through.
• Keep stakeholders accountable for commitments and deadlines while maintaining strong working relationships.
• Identify risks, dependencies, resource constraints, and potential delays.
• Help create alignment between Tax subject-matter experts and Engineering.
• Provide clear, concise project updates to leadership and other stakeholders.
• Support the team in prioritizing competing needs within a fast-moving environment.
• Help improve operating processes as the organization evolves the solution into a mature, scalable product.
• Escalate issues appropriately and help remove roadblocks that could affect delivery.

Qualifications

• Approximately 10 years of project or program management experience.
• Experience supporting Tax, Finance, Accounting, product development, or a related business function is preferred.
• Experience coordinating cross-functional teams that include both business subject-matter experts and engineers is highly desirable.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence others and drive accountability without direct authority.
• Exceptional organization, prioritization, and follow-through.
• Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams, stakeholders, and competing deadlines.
• Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Comfortable introducing structure into an evolving environment without slowing the team down.
• Experience working within both a large technology company and a startup is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled products is helpful but not required.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
• Project management certifications are not required.
