    NOW HIRING: PROJECT MANAGER – HEAVY CIVIL CONSTRUCTION


    Opportunity

    A well-established heavy civil construction company is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the overall direction, coordination, and execution of construction projects.

    This role will be responsible for managing projects from pre-planning and estimating through completion, with a strong focus on budget, scheduling, safety, quality, productivity, and client relationships.

    The Project Manager will work closely with superintendents, foremen, field crews, owners, subcontractors, engineers, and internal leadership to ensure projects are delivered successfully and according to company standards.

    What You’ll Do (Essential Duties & Responsibilities)

    Project Planning & Preconstruction

    • Complete project pre-planning, including cost estimates and budgeting
    • Plan construction operations and establish intermediate project phases
    • Develop and maintain construction schedules
    • Monitor project progress and ensure deadlines are met

    Project Financial Management

    • Manage project-related financial reporting
    • Monitor project budgets and cost performance
    • Analyze financial reports and cost-to-complete information
    • Review subcontracts and change orders for accuracy

    Construction Operations

    • Coordinate construction activities and oversee project execution
    • Acquire equipment and materials and address any deficiencies or delays
    • Monitor project progress and prepare regular reports
    • Attend project meetings and coordinate with key stakeholders

    Safety & Quality

    • Ensure company safety policies are consistently enforced across projects
    • Maintain a strong focus on quality, productivity, and project standards
    • Proactively identify and resolve issues that could affect project performance

    Team Leadership

    • Oversee Superintendents, Foremen, and field crews
    • Plan, assign, and direct work across project teams
    • Provide coaching, mentoring, and regular performance feedback
    • Foster a positive, collaborative, and team-oriented work environment
    • Help develop future leaders within the organization

    Client & Stakeholder Relations

    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with owners, subcontractors, and engineers
    • Communicate effectively with clients, management, field teams, and other stakeholders
    • Represent the company professionally throughout the project lifecycle

    What You Bring (Qualifications & Education)

    Education

    Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field with one to two years of field experience; or four to six years of related supervisory or management experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Experience

    • Experience in heavy civil construction, project management, supervision, or related construction operations
    • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and construction activities
    • Experience leading field personnel and coordinating subcontractors preferred

    Skills

    • Strong knowledge of construction scheduling and project planning
    • Understanding of estimating, job costing, accounting, and scheduling software
    • Knowledge of accounting principles and project cost management
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong management and leadership abilities
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and field teams

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    This individual may manage multiple projects, overseeing Superintendents and Foremen with crews totaling approximately 10 to 40 employees.

    Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; providing feedback; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.
