Position Overview:

The Project Surveyor (ME) is an integral part of the Survey and Construction departments at Feldman Geospatial, responsible for supports the project manager with boundary research and field to finish drafting, project planning, leading field crews on site, performing a variety of surveying and layout tasks, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with safety standards. The Project Surveyor (ME) collaborates with Project Managers and other team members to execute work efficiently and maintain high-quality standards. Utilizing exceptional technical expertise, leadership skills, and effective communicationto make a positive impact on results.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform office survey field to finish procedures, on projects including boundary, ALTA, topographic, level runs, GPS-based surveys or construction layout.
  • Lead on site field execution for boundary, ALTA, topographic, level runs, GPS-based surveys or construction layout at increasing levels of independence based on experience.
  • Organize data and other related documentation to create survey deliverables.
  • Report surveying operations results from a job site(s).
  • Review and edit collected survey data and provide feedback to Crew Chiefs and/or Director of Field Operations.
  • Submit edited results to PLS, Project Manager, or Team Leader for review and endorsement.
  • Package data into finished product to be delivered to appropriate clients.
  • Perform research, calculations, boundary decisions or construction calculations and provide to Project Manager for review.
  • Ensure understanding of the different types of plans Feldman provides.
  • Manage assigned field equipment, inventory, maintenance and calibration.
  • Maintain strong communication with Project Managers, clients, and internal teams to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Attend project briefings, effectively communicate job details to crews, and submit accurate documentation and reports.
  • Maintain and operate company vehicles per company policies.
  • Lead client communication and resolve field-related challenges.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and enforce proper use of PPE.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 2-year degree and 3-5 year of related surveying experience or 5-7 years of related surveying experience.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory record.
  • Strong technical knowledge of survey or construction principles, including ALTA, boundary, topographic, and construction layout.
  • Proficiency with data collectors and performing onsite calculations.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks effectively across multiple projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to write clear and detailed field notes.
  • Proven proficiency in Carlson, CAD software, Microsoft Word, Excel and other Microsoft applications.

Working Conditions:

  • The physical work environment is most often outdoors, long periods of standing, navigating various worksites and in sometimes extreme weather conditions.
  • Field work to be performed on specific project sites.
  • Office work to be performed at Feldman Geospatial branch location.
  • Must be able to lift approx. 50 pounds.
