Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner – Comprehensive Services Center (CSC)
Location: Jacksonville, FL
Organization: Mental Health Resource Center (MHRC) 

Mental Health Resource Center (MHRC) is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our team at the Comprehensive Services Center (CSC) in Jacksonville. This position provides psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and crisis services for adults receiving care through MHRC. 

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner collaborates with the clinical team to assess, treat, and monitor individuals receiving medication management services as well as those presenting to the CSC in psychiatric crisis. This role plays a key part in ensuring patients receive high-quality, compassionate, and effective care in a supportive, team-based environment. 

This position is ideal for a provider who is passionate about serving adults with serious and persistent mental illness and who enjoys working in a collaborative clinical setting. 

Essential Responsibilities 

  • Provide psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, medication management, and approved treatment interventions for assigned caseload.
  • Develop and maintain problem-oriented treatment plans with appropriate goals and objectives.
  • Ensure patients are fully informed about prescribed medications and obtain appropriate informed consent documentation.
  • Prescribe medications in accordance with state licensure, established protocols, and the MHRC IDP formulary.
  • Provide medication education, including discussion of side effects and adherence to prescribed regimens.
  • Assess and manage individuals experiencing psychiatric crisis.
  • Coordinate referrals for additional medical or behavioral health services as needed.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and related systems.
Minimum Qualifications
 
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing
  • ANCC Certification in Psychiatric Nursing
  • Active Florida APRN License
  • Current DEA Registration
  • Minimum one year of psychiatric nursing experience, including experience working with chronically mentally ill adults
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
 
  • Ability to make independent clinical decisions and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to recognize and appropriately respond to emergent situations, including safety risks, abuse, neglect, or life-threatening conditions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with:
     
    • Patients and families

    • Clinical and administrative staff
  •  
  • Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems within three months of hire.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and email applications.

Founded in Jacksonville in May 1977, Mental Health Resource Center, Inc. (MHRC) is a Florida not-for-profit corporation that provides a wide range of behavioral health and social services to the community.  Included in MHRC’s service array are 24-hour emergency services; inpatient psychiatric services for children, adolescents and adults; and numerous outpatient services, including medication management, case management, counseling, supported housing, psychosocial rehabilitation, two programs for the homeless, a therapeutic family program, state hospital liaison services, forensic services, in-jail services, and nine Florida Assertive Community Treatment (FACT) programs for adults with severe and persistent mental illness located in Clearwater, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Kissimmee, Naples, Rockledge, Tampa, and Winter Haven. 

Since 1989, MHRC’s programs have been fully accredited by The Joint Commission.  Inpatient services are licensed by the State of Florida, Agency for Health Care Administration.  MHRC is a certified agency of United Way of Northeast Florida.      

MHRC accepts and directly bills most insurance plans, including Medicaid, Medicare and most private insurance plans.  Individuals who do not have health insurance and cannot afford our standard rates may be eligible for a reduced fee, depending on their income and number of household members.  Some MHRC programs are funded in part by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) and its managing entities, LSF Health Systems, Central Florida Behavioral Health Network, and Central Florida Cares Health System; the federal government; and the City of Jacksonville.
