Psychiatric Physician Assistant PRN & Contract

Ambition 24 Hours Inc is building a pool of qualified Psychiatric Physician Assistant candidates for upcoming assignments at state-operated facilities across Texas, including inpatient psychiatric hospitals, residential facilities supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), and an adolescent psychiatric treatment center. We are recruiting now so we can offer you work quickly as and when roles come in.

• PRN (as-needed) shifts to start
• Short-term and long-term contract assignments will also become available
• Flexible scheduling: pick up the shifts and assignments that suit you

Provide psychiatric assessment and treatment under psychiatrist supervision in an inpatient or residential setting.

• Conduct psychiatric evaluations and mental status examinations
• Develop and adjust treatment plans, including psychotropic medication management
• Monitor patient progress, side effects and safety risks
• Document care and take part in treatment team meetings
• Provide on-call and call-back coverage when scheduled

• Active Texas Physician Assistant license and current NCCPA certification
• Psychiatric or behavioral health experience (Certificate of Added Qualifications in Psychiatry preferred)
• DEA registration where prescribing controlled substances
• Current BLS certification
• Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screen, TB screening and any immunization requirements set by the facility
• Willingness to complete facility orientation and required training before your first shift

Hourly pay

• Standard: $111.60 $130.20 per hour
• Weekend: $120.00 $140.00 per hour
• Holiday (Designated Holidays): $167.40 $195.30 per hour
• Call-Back: $167.40 $195.30 per hour

On-call pay (flat rate per on-call period)

• Evening Call (5:00 pm 8:00 am): $202.80 $236.60
• 24-Hour On-Call: $364.80 $425.60
• Holiday On-Call (24 hours): $608.40 $709.80
• Weekend 24-Hour On-Call: $445.80 $520.10

Your rate within each range depends on your experience, credentials and the assignment.

Holiday rates apply on designated holidays only.

Hours over 40 in a week are worked only when scheduled and approved by the facility in advance; approved overtime is paid at 1.5 times your hourly rate.

• On-call means being available by phone and able to arrive at the facility within 30 minutes if called in. No additional hourly rate applies if you are called in while on-call.
• Evening Call covers 5:00 pm to 8:00 am the next day, any day of the week (including Friday evening).
• 24-Hour On-Call covers 8:00 am to 8:00 am the next day.
• Weekend 24-Hour On-Call covers Saturday 8:00 am to Sunday 8:00 am, or Sunday 8:00 am to Monday 8:00 am.
• Holiday On-Call covers 8:00 am on a designated holiday to 8:00 am the next day.
• Call-Back pay applies when you are not on-call but are asked to return to the facility after hours for an emergency, including on weekends and holidays.
