Company Overview
Mental Health Resource Center (MHRC) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Staff Psychiatrist to provide psychiatric services within our Comprehensive Services Center (CSC) in Jacksonville. This position plays a vital role in delivering high-quality care to adults receiving medication management and crisis services.

Position Summary
The Staff Psychiatrist works closely with the clinical team to assess, diagnose, treat, and monitor individuals receiving psychiatric services. The Psychiatrist provides medication management, crisis intervention, psychiatric evaluations, and consultation services while ensuring patients receive quality, evidence-based care in a therapeutic setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide psychiatric diagnosis, medication management, therapeutic interventions, and other approved treatment modalities for an assigned caseload.
  • Ensure each patient has an individualized treatment plan with appropriate goals and objectives.
  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations and treatment plan reviews at established intervals to assess patient progress and make treatment recommendations.
  • Educate patients regarding prescribed medications and obtain informed consent as required.
  • Prescribe medications in accordance with Florida licensure requirements and MHRC formulary guidelines.
  • Collaborate with staff, family members, caregivers, community partners, and other agencies regarding patient diagnostic, medical, and treatment needs.
  • Provide clinical consultation and guidance to MHRC clinical managers and staff delivering behavioral health services.
  • Sign professional certificates for involuntary examinations, provide first and second opinions, and appear in court proceedings as required under the Baker Act.
  • Review and vacate inappropriate Baker Act placements when clinically indicated.
  • Participate in after-hours, weekend, and holiday on-call coverage for MHRC inpatient programs and UF Health.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:
  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree
  • Board Certification in Psychiatry
  • Current Florida Medical License
  • Current DEA Registration/Certification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
  • Strong clinical judgment and the ability to make sound, independent decisions.
  • The ability to recognize and respond appropriately to psychiatric emergencies and life-threatening situations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to effectively interact with patients, families, caregivers, community providers, supervisory staff, and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Commitment to maintaining complete, accurate, and confidential clinical documentation.
  • Ability to meet internal and external standards for documentation accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, with the ability to achieve competency in the MHRC EHR within three months of employment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and email communication.
Position Details:
Full-time, Monday through Friday.  MHRC offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package. Additional compensation is provided for on-call services.

Founded in Jacksonville in May 1977, Mental Health Resource Center, Inc. (MHRC) is a Florida not-for-profit corporation that provides a wide range of behavioral health and social services to the community.  Included in MHRC’s service array are 24-hour emergency services; inpatient psychiatric services for children, adolescents and adults; and numerous outpatient services, including medication management, case management, counseling, supported housing, psychosocial rehabilitation, two programs for the homeless, a therapeutic family program, state hospital liaison services, forensic services, in-jail services, and nine Florida Assertive Community Treatment (FACT) programs for adults with severe and persistent mental illness located in Clearwater, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Kissimmee, Naples, Rockledge, Tampa, and Winter Haven. 

Since 1989, MHRC’s programs have been fully accredited by The Joint Commission.  Inpatient services are licensed by the State of Florida, Agency for Health Care Administration.  MHRC is a certified agency of United Way of Northeast Florida.      

MHRC accepts and directly bills most insurance plans, including Medicaid, Medicare and most private insurance plans.  Individuals who do not have health insurance and cannot afford our standard rates may be eligible for a reduced fee, depending on their income and number of household members.  Some MHRC programs are funded in part by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) and its managing entities, LSF Health Systems, Central Florida Behavioral Health Network, and Central Florida Cares Health System; the federal government; and the City of Jacksonville.
