Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive psychological and educational evaluations to assess
students’ cognitive, academic, social, and emotional functioning.
* Participate actively in eligibility determination meetings and Individualized
Education Program (IEP) meetings to develop appropriate interventions and
accommodations.
* Manage a small caseload of students for individual and/or group counseling to
address social-emotional needs.
* Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and other stakeholders to
support student success and promote a positive school climate.
* Provide consultation and support to staff on behavioral and academic
interventions.
* Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with federal and
state regulations, including IDEA and Rhode Island Department of Education
guidelines.
* Assist in crisis intervention and response as needed.
* Stay current with best practices in school psychology and participate in
professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
* Required:
* Master’s degree or higher in School Psychology or a related field.
* Valid Rhode Island School Psychologist certification or eligibility for
certification.
* Experience conducting psychological and educational assessments.
* Knowledge of special education processes, including eligibility determination
and IEP development.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with
students, families, and school staff.
* Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and maintain organized records.
* Preferred:
* Previous experience in a school setting.
* Familiarity with evidence-based counseling techniques and behavioral
interventions.
* Experience working with diverse student populations.
Work Schedule
* Positions at Villa Nova Middle School and Hamlet Middle School are full-time
with hours from 7:20 AM to 2:00 PM.
* The combined position at Citizens Elementary (0.4 FTE) and Woonsocket High
School (0.6 FTE) requires flexibility to work at Citizens Elementary from
8:45 AM to 3:00 PM and at Woonsocket High School from 8:00 AM to 2:15 PM.
