• Able to give written and oral reports
• Able to stand and walk most of the day and be able to climb in and out of enclosures
• Able to work in small, enclosed spaces
• >Must be able to swim and run
• Job requires frequent bending and lifting. Must be able to lift 75-lbs and carry 50-lbs.
• Boat drivers are required to work outdoors in all types of weather
• Must be able to read and write English and perform simple math
• Boat driving experience is helpful
• Must enjoy presenting for the public.
• The Zoo is open every day of the year; weekend and holiday work is required
• Keepers work inside and outside, year-round, in ALL kinds of weather• High School diploma or CED from an accredited institution
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• College courses are highly desired.ADMINISTRATION Human Resources Under the immediate supervision of the Education Curator, the Boat Driver is responsible for safely giving rides with an educational tour program on the Zoos boats.DIVISION: Louisiana Purchase Cardens & ZOO
• Drives the boat for patrons and Zoo guests
• Maintains safety of the passengers as the highest priority
• Gives a clear, accurate and entertaining tour with explanations of the animals seen on the ride
• Keeps the boot dock and the adjacent area clean, safe and aesthetically pleasing for the guests
• Follows the Louisiana Governmental Code of Ethics for public servants
• Performs other reasonable duties within the scope of work or in emergency situations as assigned by the appropriate authority LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES- Current and Valid Louisiana Drivers License
