Public Finance Analyst/Paralegal

Location: Denver, CO

Salary: $80,000-$105,000

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Work Arrangement: In-office for the first 90 days; hybrid thereafter with four days in-office and one remote day per week

Position Overview

A nationally recognized law firm is seeking a Public Finance Analyst/Paralegal to join its Denver office. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who wants to build or continue a career in public finance while working alongside experienced attorneys on sophisticated municipal finance and economic development transactions.

The Public Finance Analyst will support attorneys and clients on municipal bond transactions, infrastructure financing, economic development projects, and other public finance matters. The position offers exposure to both tax-exempt and taxable financings and the opportunity to work with issuers, underwriters, financial advisors, government entities, and other professionals involved in public finance transactions.

The ideal candidate is analytical, highly organized, comfortable working with financial information, and interested in the intersection of finance, law, government, and economic development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support attorneys throughout a variety of public finance transactions, including:
    • General obligation bonds
    • Revenue bonds
    • Tax increment financing (TIF)
    • Special assessment districts
    • Infrastructure and economic development financings
    • Lease-purchase transactions
    • Public-private partnerships (P3)
  • Review and analyze financial statements, bond documents, official statements, continuing disclosure filings, and debt service schedules.
  • Prepare and maintain transaction checklists, financing summaries, closing binders, due diligence materials, and internal tracking reports.
  • Conduct legal and financial research related to municipal securities regulations, SEC and MSRB requirements, tax-exempt financing rules, and state and local government finance statutes.
  • Assist with drafting, reviewing, and proofreading financing documents, presentations, and transaction materials.
  • Coordinate transaction closings and help manage timelines, deliverables, and deadlines across multiple concurrent matters.
  • Analyze public finance data and market trends to support attorneys and client advisory work.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, public officials, financial professionals, and other transaction participants.
  • Assist with financial modeling, data analysis, and other transaction-specific projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Public Administration, Business, or a related field.
  • 1-4 years of relevant professional experience, preferably within public finance, municipal advisory, investment banking, government finance, or law firm transactional support.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret financial and transaction-related information.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with financial modeling, data analysis, project management, and deadline coordination.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines in a fast-paced transactional environment.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to communicate confidently and professionally with attorneys, clients, public officials, and other external stakeholders.
  • Experience with iManage is a plus.
