Purchasing Agent

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for supporting purchasing, inventory planning, supplier relationships, and order fulfillment to ensure materials and products are available when needed. This position works with both domestic and international suppliers, manages purchase orders, monitors inventory levels, and negotiates pricing and terms. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining strong supplier relationships and controlling costs. This is a Direct Hire position located in Wheeling, IL.

Responsibilities

• Source, evaluate, and maintain relationships with domestic and international suppliers.
• Negotiate pricing, contract terms, payment terms, and delivery schedules to achieve competitive costs and reliable service.
• Create, issue, and manage purchase orders for raw materials, inventory, manufacturing components, finished goods, and drop-ship orders.
• Monitor supplier performance, product quality, pricing, and delivery commitments and address discrepancies as needed.
• Analyze inventory levels, demand forecasts, and product usage to maintain appropriate stock levels and prevent material shortages.
• Coordinate the purchasing of materials and products needed to support production schedules and customer demand.
• Maintain accurate purchasing, inventory, forecasting, and supplier information within the ERP system.
• Partner with production, logistics, sales, and other departments to ensure materials and products are available to meet operational needs.
• Coordinate customer orders through the appropriate fulfillment channels and manage related production and drop-ship orders.
• Monitor order fulfillment to help ensure customer and production requirements are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Analyze purchasing, inventory, and supplier data using Microsoft Excel and other reporting tools.
• Prepare purchasing and inventory reports to support management decisions.
• Work with the finance team to resolve invoice discrepancies and support payment reconciliation.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings, supplier improvements, and more efficient purchasing processes.

Requirements

• Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory planning, supply chain, or a related field.
• Experience working with domestic and international suppliers and purchasing processes.
• Strong understanding of procurement, inventory control, materials planning, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, lookups, and pivot tables.
• Experience working with ERP or inventory management systems.
• Strong negotiation, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with suppliers and internal departments.

• Pay $23- $27 an hour, depending on experience

Pay Details: $23.00 to $27.00 per hour
