Purchasing Director

The Vendor Relations Director serves as Prime Source's purchasing and GPO subject matter expert, bringing strong industry knowledge and vendor management experience within healthcare, senior living, or post-acute care. This role focuses on managing vendor relationships, negotiating pricing and contract terms, and conducting vendor business reviews to address performance, pricing, and program opportunities.

Working closely with internal teams, the Purchasing Director will interpret existing spend analysis and purchasing insights, translating findings into strategic conversations and actionable recommendations. The role will focus on strengthening vendor partnerships, improving purchasing outcomes, and maximizing the value of Prime Source's GPO programs.

Your Impact:

• Manage relationships with vendors and GPO partners to support Prime Source's purchasing programs and business objectives.

• Negotiate pricing, contract terms, and other vendor arrangements to improve value for participating healthcare organizations.

• Address pricing discrepancies, unfavorable terms, and vendor performance concerns through direct communication and negotiation.

• Build and maintain strong vendor relationships while advocating for Prime Source and its clients.

• Identify opportunities to improve vendor offerings, pricing structures, and overall program value.

• Monitor GPO program developments, vendor offerings, contract changes, and industry trends to identify opportunities and inform purchasing strategies.

• Lead vendor business reviews to discuss pricing, performance, program utilization, and opportunities for improvement.

• Interpret spend analysis and reporting prepared by internal teams, translating findings into clear insights and actionable discussion points for vendor negotiations and business reviews.

• Collaborate with sales, finance, and sales support to coordinate vendor initiatives, resolve issues, and follow through on identified opportunities.

• Contribute purchasing expertise and market knowledge to initiatives that strengthen Prime Source's vendor programs and client value.

• Handle other special projects as assigned.

About You:

• Strong working knowledge of GPO structures, purchasing programs, and vendor relationships within healthcare, senior living, skilled nursing, or post-acute care.

• Demonstrated negotiation skills, including experience addressing pricing, contract terms, and vendor performance.

• Ability to interpret spend analysis, purchasing reports, and performance data and translate findings into clear business insights and actionable discussions.

• Strong vendor relationship management and communication skills, including the ability to lead business reviews and negotiate with vendor representatives.

• Strong communication skills both verbal and written.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

• Three to five years of GPO experience.

• Three to five years of procurement experience.

• Familiarity with Salesforce or comparable CRM systems.
