Our client, a top manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced and strategic Purchasing Director to lead their transformative enterprise purchasing initiative. This fully remote opportunity requires a dynamic professional to drive best-in-class procurement practices, optimize vendor relationships, and ensure consistent, high-quality purchasing operations across multiple manufacturing locations.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and continuously improve the Enterprise Purchasing Initiative, creating standardized purchasing processes and optimizing vendor management across all company divisions.
Direct the procurement of materials, components, and services, ensuring alignment across a multi-plant environment.
Mentor and develop a team of purchasing professionals and manage subcontractor relationships.
Oversee and maintain an enterprise vendor catalog, including rationalizing the vendor base and monitoring supplier performance to ensure contract and pricing compliance.
Optimize procurement processes, including purchase order systems, recurring spend, and authority controls, all while enforcing compliance with approval hierarchies.
Manage and enhance ERP systems for purchasing
Review and approve purchase orders, negotiate supplier agreements, and support cost estimating with accurate pricing data.
Oversee enterprise-wide inventory management practices, ensuring optimal inventory levels to support operational goals.
Collaborate closely with Operations and Finance to ensure procurement aligns with production planning and financial reporting.
Enforce organizational purchasing policies and compliance standards while maintaining confidentiality and promoting a culture of safety.
Serve as the primary purchasing contact for internal stakeholders, suppliers, and external partners, representing the company with professionalism and integrity.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
10+ years of progressive experience in procurement or contract management, including 5+ years in a managerial role across multiple locations.
Extensive expertise in supply chain management within a manufacturing or related environment.
Strong track record in negotiating complex purchases, supplier agreements, and vendor consolidations.
Proficient knowledge of ERP systems (Pace and/or Core highly desirable) and MRP systems.
Demonstrated leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management abilities.
