Position Summary
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing all purchasing and procurement activities for American Screening Corporation. This role ensures materials, products, equipment, and supplies are purchased at the highest quality and best value while maintaining inventory levels that support production, customer orders, and company growth.
This position works closely with Operations, Manufacturing, Sales, Customer Service, Accounting, and Warehouse teams to ensure products are available when needed while continually reducing costs and improving supplier performance.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute purchasing strategies that support company objectives.
- Source and procure raw materials, finished goods, packaging, office supplies, equipment, and services.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, payment terms, and supplier agreements.
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships.
- Evaluate supplier quality, pricing, and delivery performance.
- Review and approve purchase orders.
- Monitor inventory levels and forecast purchasing requirements.
- Coordinate purchasing schedules with manufacturing and warehouse operations.
- Identify opportunities to reduce purchasing costs while maintaining product quality.
- Resolve vendor issues related to shortages, pricing, quality, or shipping delays.
- Research and qualify new domestic and international suppliers.
- Prepare purchasing reports, cost analyses, and supplier performance metrics.
- Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead and mentor purchasing team members while promoting continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of purchasing or procurement experience.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Manufacturing or medical device experience is highly desirable.
- Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Sage, SAP, or Oracle.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
