Job Description:

- Client is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to support manual system-level testing of robotic fulfillment solutions, including ToteASRS, IBIS, and related automation systems.
- The contractor will work alongside software developers, hardware engineers, and fellow QA engineers to validate product quality across the development lifecycle.
- Testing will take place on in-house test floors at client facilities in North Reading and/or Westboro, Massachusetts.
- Create and execute test plans and test cases for robotics product components, ensuring comprehensive coverage across functional areas.
- Isolate, document, and validate defects; troubleshoot issues to help developers identify root causes efficiently.
- Collaborate with software and hardware engineers to understand technical architecture and assess how changes impact test scope and product behavior.
- Interpret and report testing results, advocating for quality at every phase of the development process.
- Execute manual testing on in-house test floors to verify that features meet quality standards prior to production deployment.
- Participate in design reviews and scoping sessions with development teams.
- Document findings and recommend improvements to testing approaches.
- Coordinate with QA team members to align on test coverage, share findings, and avoid duplication of effort.
- 2+ years of quality assurance engineering experience.
- Demonstrated experience in manual testing of complex systems (robotics, automation, hardware-software integration, or a closely related domain preferred).
- Working knowledge of QA methodology and standard testing tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, TestRail, or equivalent).
- Experience troubleshooting defects and performing root cause analysis.
- Experience designing and planning test conditions, test scripts, and test data sets to ensure appropriate coverage.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills - ability to work with technical teams and management to collect requirements and communicate results clearly.
- Prior experience testing robotic systems, autonomous systems, conveyor/sortation systems, ASRS, or similar industrial automation environments.
- Familiarity with safety and compliance testing frameworks.
- Experience working in a fast-paced hardware-software co-development environment.
- Familiarity with Client internal tools and processes (Brazil Build, JIRA, Confluence, etc.).
- Knowledge of one or more scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ruby, Perl) is a plus but NOT required - automation skills are not a requirement for this engagement.
- The contractor will split time between writing and executing manual test cases, reviewing requirements with engineers, and investigating defects.
- Some days will be more collaborative - joining design reviews or scoping sessions with developers - while others will be focused, solo work on the test floor running through test scenarios and documenting results.
- The contractor will regularly share findings with the broader QA team and recommend improvements to testing approaches.
- Reviewing updated requirements or design specs and identifying test impacts.
- Executing test cases against new builds on robotics hardware and software.
- Logging defects with reproducible steps and supporting evidence.
- Following up with developers on open bugs and verifying fixes.
- Updating test documentation to reflect current system behavior.
- Participating in sprint or stand-up meetings with the broader engineering team.
- Several years of QA experience in complex environments beyond basic UI or mobile app testing.
- Robotics experience preferred; previous Client experience provides advantages due to familiarity with leadership principles and organizational culture.
- Technical skills should include coding and scripting capabilities in languages like Python, Ruby, or Perl.
- Prior experience testing robotic systems.
