Quality Control Inspector
Position Overview
The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring all underground utility construction work meets Moss Utilities' quality standards, project specifications, and applicable municipal requirements. This role performs field inspections throughout each phase of construction, documents findings, and works closely with field operations to identify and resolve quality concerns before project completion.
Responsibilities
- Inspect underground utility installation activities including water, sewer, and storm drainage systems.
- Verify work is completed according to approved plans, specifications, and municipal standards.
- Conduct inspections of excavation, bedding, pipe installation, backfill, compaction, concrete work, and final restoration.
- Identify deficiencies and communicate corrective actions to field supervision.
- Document inspections using reports, photographs, and daily quality records.
- Verify materials meet project specifications and quality requirements.
- Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, foremen, engineers, municipalities, and third-party inspectors.
- Track and document punch list items through completion.
- Assist with project closeout inspections and turnover documentation.
- Promote continuous quality improvement and compliance with company standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in underground utility construction, quality control, or inspection.
- Strong knowledge of water, sewer, and storm utility installation methods.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, profiles, and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and mobile documentation tools.
- Valid Texas Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and travel between project sites.
