KMC Controls is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Process Inspector to support product quality throughout receiving, in-process, first-piece, and final inspection activities. This position helps ensure materials, components, assemblies, and finished products meet KMC drawings, specifications, workmanship standards, documentation requirements, and customer expectations before they move to the next stage of production or shipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform receiving, in-process, first-piece, final, and special inspections according to approved drawings, specifications, procedures, and inspection requirements.
- Read and interpret part drawings, bills of material, work instructions, quality standards, revision levels, and controlled documentation.
- Use appropriate inspection and measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, fixtures, visual standards, and functional test equipment.
- Verify dimensions, workmanship, labeling, packaging, part identification, quantities, revisions, and other quality requirements with consistent accuracy.
- Document inspection results, quality records, test outcomes, defects, nonconformances, and related transactions accurately in approved systems and forms.
- Identify, label, segregate, and communicate nonconforming or suspect material to prevent unintended use or shipment.
- Support containment, material review, root-cause investigation, corrective action, supplier quality, and continuous-improvement activities as directed.
- Communicate quality concerns promptly to Production, Quality, Engineering, Purchasing, and other departments as needed to resolve issues.
- Monitor production and inspection trends and escalate repeated defects, process concerns, or documentation discrepancies.
- Maintain inspection areas, samples, records, tools, gauges, and equipment in a clean, organized, and controlled condition.
- Follow KMC safety, quality, ESD, ISO 9001, calibration, document-control, and material-handling procedures.
- Assist with audits, rework verification, returns, inventory checks, and other quality or production-support activities as assigned.
- Work cooperatively with team members to support daily production schedules while maintaining quality and customer requirements.
Position Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; technical coursework, quality training, or related manufacturing education preferred.
- Prior manufacturing, quality inspection, assembly, electronics, machining, or related production experience preferred; equivalent education, training, and experience will be considered.
- Ability to read and follow drawings, specifications, work instructions, inspection plans, quality alerts, safety instructions, and standard operating procedures.
- Ability to use or learn common inspection and measurement tools, gauges, fixtures, visual standards, and functional test equipment.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, fractions, tolerances, measurements, and unit conversions used in inspection activities.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn quality, inventory, ERP, and document-control systems; Microsoft Word, Excel, and Epicor experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and ability to identify defects, discrepancies, or process concerns.
- Ability to communicate inspection results and quality concerns clearly, professionally, and promptly with coworkers and supervisors.
- Ability to make objective quality decisions using documented requirements and escalate questions when acceptance criteria are unclear.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a deadline-driven manufacturing environment.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and frequently bend, reach, grasp, handle small parts, inspect components, and use inspection tools.
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance or appropriate equipment.
