Quality Technicians report directly to the Production Supervisor. This is an intermediate skill level position where the employee is developing his/her knowledge over a wide range of technical abilities required at Watchfire. The primary focus of this position is auditing products and processes for conformance with established standards. Additional duties may include assisting with Quality data analysis, continuous improvement projects, and new product validation and testing. Exceptional attention to detail, organizational and time management skills, data processing skills, multi-tasking and adapting to rapidly changing priorities, with an understanding of urgency and critical issues is required.
Responsibilities
Interpret engineering prints, schematics, work instructions, quality standards, and other related documentation to determine process or product acceptance requirements.
Utilize Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) to verify product requirements.
Conduct Product Audits to determine conformance to Quality and Design standards.
Conduct Process Audits to verify adherence to current process documentation.
Conduct Field Installation Audits to verify compliance with published installation documentation. NOTE: Occasional travel to jobsites will be required
Lead Quality Improvement projects.
Assist with product and process qualification testing.
Assist with Lean Events and Process Mapping to ensure quality is represented in improvements.
Work with Production Personnel and cross functional teams.
Ensuring all TMDE is calibrated and serviceable.
Collating inspection data and drafting Quality reports.
Communicate with jobsite contact(s), Customers, or representatives ahead of travel date to verify jobsite and installation details.
Work at elevated heights.
Regularly attend training on subjects important to Watchfire and stay informed of industry practices and standards.
Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, & crouch in and around tightly configured spaces on jobsites. Must consistently lift and carry 10 pounds and lift and/or move 50 pounds.
Qualifications/Skills:
Proficient in reading/writing/typing in English.
Comprehend written, visual, and verbal instructions.
Ability to define problems verbally and in writing.
Experience presenting information in small group situations. Excellent teamwork and interpersonal communication skills.
Analytical, problem solving, and critical-thinking skills.
Working knowledge of basic electronics, computer networking, troubleshooting methodologies and mechanical aptitude are helpful.
Understanding and knowledge of various manufacturing processes (CNC fabrication, Welding, Paint application, Electrical wiring).
Experience analyzing data and drawing valid conclusions from that data.
Demonstrated ability to communicate with customers in a professional and effective manner.
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required
2-3 years of experience in quality control, quality assurance, inspection, or a related manufacturing environment.
Associate's degree in a technical field (or equivalent experience) preferred.
Strong experience with computers, internet, smart phone/tablet, and Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Valid State Driver's License at all times.
Experience with Quality Systems, Process and Product Auditing, Inspection Techniques, Statistical Process Control, Root Cause Analysis methodologies, Metrology, GD&T and Statistics is preferred.
