    Quality Engineer Position Summary:

    The Quality Engineer is responsible for continuously improving production systems to ensure that product conforms to specifications while operating in the most cost-effective manner without compromising customer expectation, quality, or operator safety.  Provide plant quality and supplier quality engineering support in new product development, current products, and assembly lines, as well as non-production functions. Provides support to Environmental and Quality Management Systems.

    Responsibilities:

    Quality Engineer - Responsibilities:

    • Supports continuous improvement projects and quality assignments.  
    • Provide Quality Engineering support in new product development. Includes helping in the development of assembly methods, assembly line layout, and capacity analysis.
    • Effectively utilize data, lean principles, and problem-solving methodologies to solve problems, prevent recurrence and propose solutions.
    • Self-starter who is able to work both independently and together in teams while improving quality and reducing costs.
    • Provides support to Horton’s Environmental and Quality Management Systems (ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and IATF 16949).
    • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the company, customers, and suppliers.
    • Perform capability studies and use Minitab software to analyze data.   
    • Lead in the development and maintenance of Process Flow, Process FMEA’s, and Control Plans.
    • Initiates corrective actions (i.e. 8D’s) use three Legged 5 Why tool to determine root cause for customer complaints, internal and external audit findings, and internal and external product failures/defects.
    • Conducts IATF 16949 and other internal audits.
    • Assists with the development of PPAP documentation for customers and review of supplier PPAP’s.
    • Assists in designing or purchasing measuring equipment to meet product specifications relative to quality and automated gaging to improve throughput.
    • Able to travel up to 25%, both domestically and internationally (i.e. customer/supplier visits)

    Qualifications:

    Quality Engineer - Qualifications:

    • Demonstrate an expertise in problem solving skills, including being able to identify, investigate and countermeasure manufacturing or supplier related technical and / or systemic issues.
    • Possess the ability to be self-directed.
    • Able to build effective teams and the ability to work with suppliers, plant manufacturing, and purchasing to ensure the deliverables are met.
    • Experience with manufacturing processes for components.
    • Experience with automotive components and functional requirements.
    • Qualified candidate will have a 4-year technical or business degree. Note: Equivalent education equals 2 years of closely related Manufacturing and Quality experience for 1 year of education.
    • Must be able to show legal authorization to work in the United States because we do not provide Visa sponsorship.
