Position Overview
Pro QC International is seeking an experienced freelance Quality Engineer / Solar Module Inspector to support solar industry projects in Arizona. The contractor will perform visual inspections of photovoltaic (PV) solar modules and related quality activities in accordance with customer requirements and applicable industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform visual inspections of solar modules for workmanship, defects, and damage.
- Identify and document issues such as:
- Cracked or broken cells
- Delamination
- Bubbles or voids
- Corrosion
- Backsheet damage
- Glass, frame, and junction box defects
- Misalignment or conditions affecting safety or performance
- Verify product compliance with applicable customer specifications and inspection criteria.
- Complete detailed inspection reports with photographs and supporting evidence.
- Communicate inspection findings promptly to Pro QC management and customer representatives.
- Maintain professional conduct while representing Pro QC at supplier or customer facilities.
- Follow all site safety requirements and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of quality assurance, quality control, manufacturing, or inspection experience.
- Experience inspecting solar modules, photovoltaic systems, electrical equipment, or related renewable energy products.
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, drawings, and inspection criteria.
- Strong report-writing and documentation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and digital reporting tools.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to customer locations in Arizona.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with IEC 61215, IEC 61730, or related solar industry standards.
- Prior solar farm, PV module manufacturing, or solar construction quality experience.
- Vendor audit, supplier quality, or quality management system experience.
- Electroluminescence (EL) inspection experience is a plus.
Independent Contractor Requirements
- Must operate as an independent contractor and be authorized to work in the United States.
- Responsible for all applicable taxes, insurance, and business expenses.
- Must provide own computer, phone, camera, and standard inspection equipment as required.
- Ability to accept project assignments on a flexible, as-needed basis.
Deliverables
- Daily inspection reports.
- Nonconformance reports when required.
- Photographic evidence of findings.
- Final inspection summary and recommendations.
