    We are seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician to support a growing research and development facility. In this role, you will serve as the site''s primary E&I resource, helping ensure laboratory and process systems remain reliable, safe, and capable of supporting critical research activities.

    This is a hands-on individual contributor position with a primary focus on instrumentation, controls, and electrical systems. You will play an important role in enabling research teams to execute development programs, support new equipment and process initiatives, and contribute to the continued growth and evolution of the facility.

    Our Team

    Our team operates from the Katy Technology Center in a collaborative R&D environment. As the facility continues to grow and evolve, we are looking for someone who is adaptable, self-directed, and comfortable working across multiple disciplines and stakeholder groups.

    As the site''s primary E&I resource, you will collaborate with researchers, contractors, technical personnel, and facility leadership to support operational success and help address the changing needs of a dynamic research environment. This role follows a 9/80 work schedule and is primarily site-based with limited travel requirements.

    What You Will Do

    R&D E&I Technicians are primarily responsible for instrumentation, DCS and electrical preventive maintenance and repair work in accordance with our Environmental, Health, and Safety practices as part of the R&D team. You will:

    • Review the weekly work schedule and coordinate with the R&D team to align priorities to successfully execute critical work to maintain equipment availability and PM compliance.
    • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and critical preventive maintenance findings.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of reliability centered maintenance strategies
    • Support implementation of project portfolio via Management of Change
    • Type of work can include but not limited to: inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, calibrating and maintaining instrumentation equipment including transmitters, valves, I/P, positioners, actuators, flow meters, tubing, RTD, thermocouples, motors, starters, breakers, transformers, isolation switches, relays, fuses, resistors, AC Drives, electrical cable, coaxial cable, conduit, receptacles, PLC's, etc.
    • Wiring and termination of low voltage control circuits, instrumentation circuits, panel wiring, installation and inspection of conduits, cable trays, junction boxes, control panels, power drops to experimental equipment, checks such as continuity verification, wire labeling, installation of small electrical equipment etc.
    • Identification of electrical hazards, shock risks, arc-flash boundaries and energized work restrictions
    • Develop loop, wiring and panel drawings and electrical schematics

    Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

    • Ability to read & execute changes based on electrical prints, loop sheets, and P&IDs
    • At least one of the following requirements:
    • Associate degree or Higher in a related I&E field PLUS 3+ years of practical experience in the refining, petrochemical, or a chemical industry-based R&D environment
    • 3+ years of Instrumentation, Instrumentation & Electrical, Electrical or Analyzer experience in a manufacturing, industrial or agriculture facility
    • This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be available to work scheduled (Planned) or unscheduled (unplanned/short-notice hours on nights and/or weekends, holidays as needed), to meet business needs
    • Required to wear any or all the following PPE: safety glasses, hearing protection, goggles, hard hats, FRC, acid suits, breathing air, gloves, safety boots, respirators, ACR Flash suits, and encapsulated suits. PPE use is in accordance with the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for a given task
    • Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
    • Ability to work in hot, cold, and inclement climate conditions
    • Must be able to work in confined spaces with supplied breathing air and congested areas
    • Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, ladders on vessels and columns, ladders associated with scaffolds

    What Will Put You Ahead

    • 3+ years of DCS experience in advanced process control applications (preferred Honeywell C300)
    • 5+ years of Instrumentation, Instrumentation & Electrical experience in a manufacturing, industrial or agriculture facility
    • SAP Experience
    • 1+ year of experience as a Mechanical Craftsman (Machinist/Millwright/Pipefitter/Boilermaker) in a manufacturing, industrial or agriculture facility
    • 1+ Year of experience as a Soft Craftsman (Scaffolding/Rigger/Painter/Sandblaster/Operator) in a manufacturing, industrial or agriculture facility
    • Multi-craft certifications
    • Planning experience in a refining or petrochemical facility
    • Experience troubleshooting equipment issues and facilitating RCA, Cause Mapping, and Failure Mode Cause Analysis
    • Ability to create P&IDs in AutoCAD or similar software tools

    This role is subject to a pre-hire medical test.
