JOB SUMMARY

The Racing Valet is a responsible for preparing, organizing, and maintaining jockeys' riding gear and assisting with horse saddling on race days.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Racing Valet

• The Horse Valet assists with the horse tack, saddling of horses and cleaning of all equipment; may maintain the jockey's wardrobe and ensures that the proper uniform is worn for each horse; provides labor support to higher level staff; and performs related tasks within area of assignment.
• Assists trainers in saddling of horses prior to each race
• Monitors horse racing equipment
• Performs related duties and responsibilities as required

Silks

• Inventories and records all colors received throughout the racing season

• Washes Silks

• Sets up silks on color rack for every race

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays
• Must be able to obtain KHRC License

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• 1+ year of experience as a Racing Valet, or similar role at a horse race track.
