Rad Tech Student

Job Summary:

Under the direction of a Radiologist and staff technologist, performs radiographic procedures. Performs a variety of technical procedures with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis.  Assumes responsibility for designated areas of procedures as required.  Participates in coverage for the daily Radiology operations. Limited to the day and evening shift while working with at least two other registered/licensed staff technologists.                                                

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Supports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry.
• Performs Radiology (plain x ray only) exams on patients. Not to include OR and Fluoroscopy exams.
• Maintains production and quality of radiograph by following established standards and

procedures.

• Implement clinical protocols and policies.
• Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to ensure safety of patients and

team members.

• Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, families, staff and physicians.
• Instructs patients for preparation for tests.
• Reviews requisition for pertinent information special requests and correct procedure as

• Knowledge of radiologic safety, protection, cleanliness, and infection control policies and

regulations.

• Knowledge of radiologic equipment uses and maintenance.

• Proficient ability to use a computer and electronic medical record.

Education and Experience

• Enrolled in a formal Radiologic Technologist education program. Must be Senior year, second semester student in accredited school for Radiologic Technology.
• Theoretical instruction combined with clinical experience.
• Must complete ARRT exam within 1 year of graduation.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification required.
• Patient Care and Customer Service experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with this position that involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. Lifting/carrying frequently up to 35 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Some stress related to high level of responsibility for quality care.

Comp Range:

$16.08 - $22.15
