Job Title: Radiation Therapist
Location: Morristown, NJ
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 4pm

Pay Rate: $54/HR ON W2

Summary:
The Radiation Therapist is responsible for accurately delivering radiation therapy treatments, performing simulations, maintaining records, and following department protocols to ensure patient safety and treatment efficacy.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately deliver the planned course of radiation therapy while correctly operating treatment units with minimal supervision.
• Maintain visual and audible communication with the patient during treatment.
• Perform daily linac and CT QA as well as monthly CT QA.
• Accurately perform IGRT, SBRT treatment, and portal imaging.
• CT/Simulate patients for radiation therapy following department and site-specific protocols.
• Properly construct immobilization devices as needed.
• Use IV contrast for simulation when needed.
• Perform respiratory gating and ACQ sim accurately.
• Use simulation equipment for SBRT treatment.
• Construct electron and cerrobend blocks when needed.
• Properly bill for special devices and simulation procedures.
• Complete the procedure verification assessment in MOSAIQ prior to the start of simulation.
• Lead CT Therapist role includes training all therapists in CT/Simulation.
• Maintain and verify all aspects of MOSAIQ for daily treatment management.
• Attend weekly chart rounds and access McKesson for inpatient transportation.
• Follow all department policies and procedures and adhere to the department dress code.
• Utilize correct body mechanics procedure and equipment such as slide board and ceiling lift.
• Practice the ALARA principle for radiation protection for patients and staff.
• Maintain current knowledge of all emergency procedures for the department and each piece of treatment equipment.
• Report any malfunctions of equipment in relation to patients' treatment to the physician, lead therapist, manager, and physicist.
• Safely operate CT on rails for IGRT delivery and accurately perform IGRT on all sites.
• Maintain records of daily treatment and other records as required.
• Check prescription, set-up instructions, and patient information daily in the chart and in the record and verify system.
• Accurately record the daily treatment plan monitor units in the chart for each treatment.
• Recognize any changes in a treatment plan and consequently implement and document the change.

Required Skills:

• Successful completion of an approved course in Radiation Therapy.
• ARRT certified and registered.

Certifications & Licenses:

• Varian True Beam Experience preferred.
• Align RT Experience preferred but not necessary.
• Minimum 1-2 years working as a radiation therapist.
