Under general supervision and following established procedures, operates CT equipment to acquire images for use by physicians in diagnosis and treatment of pathologies. Staff will be required to float among radiology clinics and divisions as needed. Operates CT equipmentto obtain diagnostic images and information according to departmental protocol. Ensures the patient is properly prepared, positioned, immobilized and uses protective shield on the patient as needed. Selects proper imaging factors and images the designated portion(s) of the body. Explains exam to patient, taking into consideration physical and emotional needs while maintaining ethical standards. Delivers patient care under scope of license and training. Maintains effective working relations and communication with departmental and hospital personnel. Calibrates and verifies the operation of all equipment. Notifies appropriate personnel of equipment malfunctions and repairs needed. Executes paperwork and Radiology Information System functions as necessary for each patient exam. Performs venipuncture for purposes of contrast administration under the direction of a radiologist. Follows all hospital and departmental contrast administration policies and procedures. Attends staff meetings, in-services, and maintains appropriate CEUs in accordance with state licensure and certification requirements. May oversee and instruct various personnel and technology students within the department. Prepares the equipment room and supplies for each patient and regular daily use. Participates in research programs, quality assurance, and quality improvement projects in the department. Assumes responsibilities for on-call coverage and remains flexible in all shift coverage and overtime situations. Rotates within department and off-site clinics as required. Transports and transfers patients using established procedures according to departmental guidelines. Uses independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative under pressure in a variety of situations when performing patient exams. Performs all other duties as directed.
