JOB SUMMARY of ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Adheres to all hospital Policies and Procedures and Philosophy of Care. Consistently exhibits professional conduct that is a behavior-based expression of the hospital’s Standards of Excellence. This position is a student and only applies prescribed ionizing radiation procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail for diagnostic purposes under the prescription of a physician. Assumes responsibility for designated areas of procedures as required. Participates in Stand-by/on call rotation with other Radiology Technologist staff. Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care. Adheres to organizational safety standards, infection control policies and procedures as relevant to the department.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
Currently enrolled as a second-year student in an ARRT approved school. Current WA State license active and in good standing as an X-Ray Technician (XT). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Functional with designated radiation emitting, processing and record retrieval equipment. Good critical thinking skills required. Clerical and computer skills required. Proficiency in written/verbal communication in English language is required as a business necessity. Use of personal protective equipment as appropriate, training related to blood-borne pathogens is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:
Adheres to all State and Federal regulations pertaining to hazardous materials and radiation emitting equipment. Risk of exposure to communicable disease, and risk of physical injury from lifting, moving or transferring patients.
WORK CONTACT GROUP: All hospital departments, patients, families, visitors, nursing personnel and medical staff.
SPECIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to transport patients via wheelchair or stretcher and transfer patients to radiology table as necessary. Stands and walks for long periods of time. Must be able to stoop, bend, push and pull. Must be able to transport, transfer and assist patients as needed using “Zero Lift” techniques and equipment. Operates technical equipment requiring manual and visual dexterity.
