Job Summary:
The Radiology Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures in accordance with established protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. This role involves working closely with physicians, nurses, and patients to ensure accurate, high-quality imaging and exceptional patient care. The technologist will operate imaging equipment, ensure patient comfort, and adhere to safety and compliance standards in a healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Verify physician orders and ensure accuracy of imaging procedures
Operate radiologic equipment and perform imaging procedures according to protocol
Explain procedures to patients, ensuring understanding and comfort
Review images to confirm diagnostic quality before submission
Utilize radiology information systems to manage and document patient care
Perform quality control procedures in compliance with regulatory standards
Assist in departmental operations, including equipment maintenance and inventory management
Adapt communication and care techniques for patients of varying ages, needs, and conditions
Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment
Perform related duties as assigned
Required Experience:
Required Education & Certifications:
Graduate of an approved radiologic technology program
Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Current unrestricted state license in radiologic technology
Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
Required Skills:
Proficiency with radiology equipment, computers, and web-based applications
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a team and with diverse patient populations
Flexibility to work various schedules, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Preferred Skills:
Experience placing nasogastric tubes, IVs, urinary catheters, and administering contrast
Knowledge of patient privacy standards and infection control protocols
Ability to troubleshoot imaging equipment and software
Physical & Environmental Requirements:
Heavy work: exerting 50–100 lbs occasionally, 25–50 lbs frequently, and 10–20 lbs constantly
Frequent standing, walking, and occasional lifting or moving of equipment up to 200 lbs (with assistance)
Exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous medications, and body fluids in a patient care setting
Compliance with all safety and infection control procedures
