Overview:

Riverside Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Radiology Technologist with a Limited License to join our team in Kankakee, Illinois. The Radiology Technologist will be responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality imaging services while maintaining a strong focus on patient care, safety, and satisfaction. Demonstrates flexibility with assignments within professional scope/duties/licensure.

Essential Duties

Perform Diagnostic Imaging:

  • Execute limited radiographic procedures as per the scope of the license.
  • Prepare and position patients for radiographic examinations ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Operate radiographic equipment to produce images of the human body for diagnostic purposes.

Image Evaluation and Quality Assurance:

  • Review images for clarity, density, and adequacy before submitting them to the radiologist for interpretation.
  • Adhere to established protocols to ensure high-quality imaging results.

Patient Care and Safety:

  • Provide clear instructions to patients regarding procedures and ensure their understanding.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment by following infection control protocols.
  • Monitor patients during procedures to ensure their safety and comfort.

Documentation and Record Keeping:

  • Accurately document patient information, procedures performed, and any observations in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Ensure that all imaging records are properly labeled and stored.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.

Non-essential Duties

  • Assist in inventory management, including tracking and ordering radiologic supplies.
  • Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with advancements in radiologic technology and practices.
  • Support other departments as needed with basic radiologic tasks within the scope of a limited license.
Responsibilities:

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience in a radiology department is preferred but not required.
  • Proficient in the use of radiographic equipment and software.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Required Licensure/Education

  • Current and valid Radiology Technologist Limited License in the state of Illinois.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program with a limited scope of practice.
  • Current student of an AMA accredited program in medical imaging and has successfully passed the limited license exam.
  • IEMA required in Radiation Technology Limited Accreditation.

Exposure/Sensory Requirements

Exposure to:

  • Chemicals: Diagnostic technologist will be working with chemicals used with the processing of x-ray film.
  • Video Display Terminals: Extreme
  • Blood and Body Fluids: Regularly 
  • TB or Airborne Pathogens: Direct contact with patients and have potential of normal exposure to airborne pathogens.

Sensory requirements (speech, vision, smell, hearing, touch):

  • Speech: Needed for communication with patients, both visually and through speech for retrieval of information, procedure verification and post procedure instructions.
  • Vision: Needed to identify anatomy and manipulate for correct density and contrast levels for proper imaging technique. 
  • Smell: Electrical/fire safety.
  • Hearing: Needed for active listening to colleagues, patients, visitors, and others encountered in the course of job duties.
  • Touch: Needed for operating computer equipment, key boarding of entry and/or other patient care functions.
