SL Ranch in Stevensville is seeking a full time ranch hand to perform a variety of duties related to the production of hay and cattle. NO HOUSING PROVIDED!Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Repairs and maintenance of equipment, fences, ditches, headgates and pipes.Crop Management - identify irrigation needs for hay crops. Notify supervisor when hay is ready for harvestOperate haying equipment, move and set irrigation pipes and guns. Identify and insure all pastures are sufficiently wateredDaily feeding of livestockCare of chickensSnow plowing, mowing, weed eating as necessary and directedCalving-feeding, tagging, vaccinations, general doctoring as neededDaily cleaning of dog kennelsPerform other duties as assignedExperience and Skills Required:Good verbal and written communication skillsSelf starter, highly motivatedAbility to work long hoursMust be proficient in the safe operation of all equipment...haying, loaders, tractors, 4 wheeler, vehicles, power tools, chainsaw, etcTime management - ability to manage one's own timeMust be reliable, responsible and dependableProficient on horseback and handling of horses and cattleAbility to identify sickness and/or lameness in horses and cattleMust be able to lift up to 100 lbsSome framing knowledge a plusRoping ability a plusClean driving record and background and drug test requiredMost duties are performed outdoors and entail exposure to extreme heat, cold, rain, and other environmental conditionsSummer irrigation schedule is Mon-Sat and calving schedule is 7 days a weekCompensation is DOE
