Are you skilled in verbal subjects (reading comprehension, writing expression, interpretation of literature) and have a passion for teaching?Located near the border between Chantilly & Herndon, C2 Education of Herndon, VA is an educational center working with grade 4-12 students, and is part of a fast-growing chain of educational service providers. We are looking for a part-time
verval tutor to be part of our teaching team. The ideal candidate wiill have strong verbal skills, including reading comprehension and writing composition skills, knowledge of Engligh grammar and literary interpretation, along with a passion for teaching in this subject area.
The position starts as
part time, with some flexibility to work out the specific schedule of work hours, though we are particularly looking for a teacher who could work in
Sunday afternoons. There are also potential opportunities for advancement. Please note that this position is for
in-person work only; please do not apply if you are not currently able to commute to our center in Herndon, VA USA WE PROVIDE:
- Consistent and flexible scheduling. Tutors do not have to travel to other people's homes and can earn a predictable bi-weekly pay. Instruction is done at our center (though remote tutoring may be possible in some cases). Tutors do not grade homework outside of work hours.
- A good learning environment, with paid training. We provide all the teaching resources you'll need in our center - just bring your skills and love of teaching. Tutoring is done one-on-one or in a small group (max 3 students).

- Compensation is $26/hr. -$30/hr.
THE TUTORS WE ARE LOOKING FOR WILL HAVE:
- A bachelor's degree or higher level degree.
- Sharp reasoning skills, reflected in an ability to do well on and teach SAT-level material. All applicants take a sample SAT (Reading / Writing section) at our center and will need to score 700+ to be eligible to tutor at the high school level.
- Strong skills in critical reading and writing (including knowledge of grammar principles), as well as the ability to teach young people how to excel in these verbal skills. A solid background in English/American literature and literary interpretation is a plus.
- A passion for teaching and working with young people. Previous experience teaching or tutoring is a plus.
There is some flexibility with arranging a work schedule, and we will work with you to create a regular weekly teaching schedule that works within your other commitments.
