The Town of Cohasset is seeking a dedicated Attendant to join the team at the town’s Recycling and Transfer Facility (RTF). Reporting to the RTF Operations Manager, the RTF Attendant delivers high-level customer service by greeting the public upon arrival at the Recycling and Transfer Station. The Attendant is responsible for communicating procedures, assisting with the intake of monies for pay-per-drop items, and aiding in general operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, good communication skills, and a commitment to promoting sustainable practices within the community.

45% General Operations
Open and close the transfer station gates according to schedule.
Direct incoming vehicles to proper disposal areas, check for valid transfer station permit
Keep transfer station clean, pick-up debris, and help keep staff areas clean
Receive payments for additional charge waste items
Assist in starting/ stopping machinery as needed using stop and start buttons
Perform work assignments in a prompt, efficient and safe manner.
Maintain a neat and tidy work environment, pickup windblown or discarded debris
50% Public Communications
Greet visitors entering the facility
Explain transfer station procedures to the general public; monitor materials to prohibit disposal of prohibited items.
Always represent the town in a professional manner.
Commitment to maintaining a good working relationship with coworkers, other town officials and the general public.
5% Other duties as assigned.
Education: A High School Diploma or equivalent.
Training, Skills, Licenses, Knowledge and/or Experience:
Must have at least six (6) months of experience in a customer service environment. Experience in cash handling is preferred. Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions, communicate with others, and work independently. Knowledge and ability to follow all general safety procedures and practices.
Schedule: This position is 19 hours per week, with flexible hours between Wednesday and Sunday.
Salary: $23.01 per hour with annual performance-based step increases and cost-of-living (COLA).
