Registered Behavior Technician, Unit C - IDD

Full Time, 72 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift

Position Summary:

Provides individualized assistance to the treatment of intellectually disabled population through care coordination, training, skill building and management of challenging behaviors. The general practice of BCBA may include implementing treatment plans, teaching new skills, managing challenging behaviors and collecting data.

Responsibilities:
  • Execute skill-building programs and behavior interventions designed by the supervising BCBA.
  • Assist with implementing customized Behavioral Intervention Plans to decrease harmful behaviors and to increase functional communication and adaptive skills.
  • Completes required documentation and appropriate updates to various systems for care coordination.
  • Help patients develop social skills, communication and daily self-care routines through structured, play-based therapy.
  • Guides patients to find healthier ways to express needs or emotions.
  • Utilizes strategies to de-escalate aggressive or disruptive behaviors.
  • Cooperates with hospital staff and physicians and keeps them informed of progress with patients.
  • Exhibits the skills of empathy, communication, organization, critical thinking, active listening, and patience.
  • Carefully observes and tracks client progress, reporting back to supervising BCBA.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Minimum Education:       

High school diploma

 

Minimum Experience:      

None

 

Licensure Requirement:   

Must hold an active certification from the Behavioral Analyst Certification Board.
