Job Title: Regional Controller

We are currently looking for a Regional Controller. This position will be out of our Columbus, OH office. The Regional Controller will manage Regional monthly Financial/Accounting activities for all Strawser Operations. We are looking for a high-potential candidate who is looking to grow in their career within Barrett and Colas. Our company is expanding and we are hiring future finance leaders. Compensation is very competitive and employee benefits are excellent. Paid relocation is available to a candidate from outside the area. A company vehicle is included for this position.

Primary Duties
  • Direct the daily activities of the Accounting and Accounts Payable Departments and provide oversight of the staff
  • Manage the monthly close process in a prompt, timely and accurate manner for the Region
  • Prepare/review monthly/quarterly delivers for corporate accounting and finance teams
  • Conduct/oversee various month-end budget/financial review meetings with all locations in the Region
  • Review and approve the monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for all entities in the Region
  • Participation in the development of annual regional plan
  • Process improvement initiatives on closing and transactional processes
  • Coordinate with both internal & external auditors on audits & peer reviews
  • Provide oversight for the contract and subcontract agreement process, ensure contract compliance and monthly invoice process for services

  • Manage banking transactions associated with the payment of refunds to customers and vendors
  • Work with internal field accountants in the annual budget process and review monthly reports tracking budget to actuals
  • Suggest billing rate recommendations, profitability models, project tracking tools, and accounting procedures to field accountants
  • Work with field accountants to comply with annual audits and compliance with state and federal tax requirements
  • Monitor and maintain all accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness ensuring all accounting and contract files are maintained
  • Provide accounting guidance in adherence to GAAP
  • Coordination and review of certain monthly KPI's


Experience & Skills Required
  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance or Business Management with an emphasis in Accounting required
  • Road construction and manufacturing facility cost accounting experience preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant accounting experience in a leadership position managing a staff of direct reports
  • Must be able to create and implement work plans, budgets and financial plans, prepare written materials, and articulate goals and action plans
  • Strong leadership skills; ability to set objectives, delegate tasks, evaluate performance and develop a cross-functional team
  • Ability to influence others, resolve problems, and manage conflict in a positive manner
  • High degree of professionalism; ability to communicate with confidence and tact
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Willing and able to travel at least 25% of the time
  • Experience with all Microsoft Office Applications and financial accounting software
  • Strong Written/ Oral and Interpersonal Communication Skills; ability to write and communicate complex information in an easily comprehensible manner
  • CPA or CMA preferred
