Position SummaryThe Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) provides chairside clinical support to the dentist while ensuring the highest standards of patient care, infection control, and office efficiency. The RDA is responsible for assisting with dental procedures, preparing treatment rooms, educating patients, maintaining accurate records, and performing expanded duties as permitted under Florida law and office protocols.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the dentist during a variety of dental procedures.
Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials before patient appointments.
Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment according to OSHA and CDC guidelines.
Take and process dental radiographs in accordance with Florida certification requirements.
Perform expanded functions as authorized by the supervising dentist and Florida regulations.
Record patient medical histories, vital information, and treatment notes in the electronic dental record.
Provide pre-operative and post-operative patient instructions.
Educate patients on oral hygiene and preventive dental care.
Maintain inventory of dental supplies and clinical materials.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, infection control, and workplace safety standards.
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient clinical environment.
Assist with laboratory procedures, impressions, temporary restorations, and other delegated clinical duties as permitted.
Qualifications
Certification from an accredited Dental Assisting program is required.
Current Florida Dental Radiographer Certification or graduation from a Florida Board-approved dental assisting program with radiography training.
Knowledge of dental terminology, infection control protocols, and dental software.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Preferred Experience
Minimum of one year of chairside dental assisting experience preferred.
Experience with digital radiography and electronic dental records.
Familiarity with restorative, surgical, endodontic, pediatric, and prosthodontic procedures.
