The Registered Dietitian (RD) plays a vital role in supporting healthy pregnancies and improving outcomes for both parent and baby through compassionate, patient-centered nutrition care. This position provides comprehensive nutrition assessment, education, and intervention for diverse patient populations, with a strong focus on prenatal care within the Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program (CPSP). The RD designs and implements nutrition education programs, communicates critical nutrition information to care teams, and helps advance the mission of Vista Community Clinic improving maternal and infant health outcomes in the community. Working with Medi-Cal-eligible pregnant individuals, the RD develops personalized nutrition care plans that reflect each patient’s medical needs, cultural background, and personal preferences. Through one-on-one counseling and education, the RD empowers patients and their families to make informed choices that promote healthy pregnancy weight gain, manage nutrition-related conditions such as gestational diabetes, and support optimal fetal development. As a key member of a multidisciplinary care team, including providers, nurses, and social workers, the RD collaborates to deliver coordinated, holistic care. This role includes monitoring patient progress, adjusting care plans as needed, and providing ongoing support to encourage lasting, healthy lifestyle changes.
