Procedures: Cardiac Stent Placement, Diagnostic Catheterizations Adult, IABP Placement/Removal, Interventional Catheterizations, Left heart catheterization, Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI), Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring, Right heart catheterization. Medications: Antiarrhythmics, Antihypertensives, Emergency Medications, IV vasopressors, Procedural Sedation Administration/Monitoring, Reversal agents, Thrombolytics. IV therapy: Blood Product Administration, IV infusion pumps, Starting IVs. Professional Knowledge and Skills: 12 Lead EKG, Activated Clotting Time (ACT), Cardioversion, Circulate Procedures, Infection Prevention, Interpretation/Management of Dysrhythmias, Isolation Precautions, Malignant Hyperthermia Protocols, Monitoring Procedural Sedation, Richmond Agitation-Sedation Scale, Sheath Removal and Monitoring,

    Vascular Studies/Procedures: angioplasty, dialysis graft interventional, Upper and Lower Extremity Angiography
    IV Therapy: Assist with Central Line Insertion/management, Implanted Ports - Care and Maintenance, PICC Lines - Care and Maintenance
    Professional Knowledge and Skills: End-Tidal CO2 monitoring, External Compression Devices (C-Clamp, Sandbags), Hypothermia protocols, Laser Assisted Procedures, Pressure Ulcer Assessment/Prevention, Radiation and Laser Safety, Topical Hemostasis (D-Stat, Chito-Seal, Syvek Patch), Vascular Closure Systems (Perclose, StarClose), Ventilator Monitoring.

    Ratios:1:1
    Shift: 5x8 Days (06:45-15:15) Mon-Fri
    Occasional late days, typically 4-5 days per month, it is rare that staff will work in the lab after 17:00 on those days.
    Call Requirement: Call one day a week and every fifth weekend.
    Float Requirement: Will float as needed.
    Weekend Requirement: NONE

    PATIENT DIAGNOSES: Patients are referred to Cath Lab with a range of cardiovascular diagnoses or symptom, often with suspicion or confirmation of heart or vascular disease. Some diagnosis includes the following: coronary artery disease (stable angina, unstable angina/NSTEMI, STEMI, heart failure, valvular disease, congenital heart disease, pulmonary hypertension, pericardial disease and assess pre-operative evaluation.

    SPECIAL PROCEDURES / UNIT DETAILS: Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI)-ballon angioplasty and stent placement, PFO/ASD closure, Cardiogenic shock, CTO, ETC.

    SPECIAL EQUIPMENT: Impella, Penumbra, EKOS, Roto, Ultrasound, Shockwave and ACIST are major items used. Client Mac Lab system.

    UNIT SYSTEMS (Medication, Documentation, Communication): Pyxis, SBAR, Epic

    UNIT ORIENTATION: 16 HOURS
