Job Summary

This is a House Supervisor travel nursing position at a hospital with day surgery only, a 7-bed Emergency Department, and a 25-bed inpatient unit that serves detox, swing bed, and medical patients. The unit is a scattered-bed unit that serves swing bed, detox, and medical patients, with a majority census of subacute clients requiring rehab for debility, wound care, and long-term IV antibiotic therapy. The inpatient RN ratio is 1:6 on days and 1:7 on nights, with LPN support to assist with medication pass and/or take ALC/swing bed assignments. Respiratory Therapy services are available Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM only.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as House Supervisor for a scattered-bed unit covering swing bed, detox, and medical patients
• Oversee inpatient unit operations with RN ratios of 1:6 on days and 1:7 on nights, with LPN support for medication pass and/or ALC/swing bed assignments
• Provide care for a patient population with diagnoses including CHF, Pneumonia, observation rule-out for chest pain, syncope, diverticulitis, cellulitis, COPD, ETOH withdrawal, opiate withdrawal, and debility
• Coordinate use of bariatric equipment, which is rented as needed
• Support coverage across a facility that includes day surgery only, a 7-bed ER, and a 25-bed inpatient unit

Required Skills

• ED (Emergency Department) experience REQUIRED
• House Supervisor or RN Manager experience (minimum 1 year)
• Ability to manage a scattered-bed unit covering swing bed, detox, and medical patient populations
• Familiarity with subacute care including rehab for debility, wound care, and long-term IV antibiotic therapy
• Scrubs required; no formal dress code beyond scrubs

Education Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) License NY State required (NY is not a Compact state)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) Required
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) Required

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year of House Supervisor or RN Manager experience
• ED (Emergency Department) experience required
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00 07:00
• Weekend coverage: Every Other Weekend (EOW)
• Geographic restriction: Local candidates not accepted candidate must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• Average daily census: 19; facility has 25 beds
• Respiratory Therapy services available Monday Friday, 7:00 AM 3:00 PM only
• Bariatric equipment rented when needed
• Scrubs required; no formal dress code
