Registered Nurse - Medical Oncology (Ygboi) -Per Diem

Summary

Coordinate total nursing care for patients using nursing standards and the nursing process; adhering to Oncology Nursing Standards. Participate in patient and family teaching; provide leadership working cooperatively with other health care providers.Directs, supervises and evaluates nursing care provided to the patients and administers direct care, by using professional nursing skills and judgments as required. Includes pain assessment, interventions, and re-assessment. Assists physicians with patient procedures, and exams. Transcribes physician orders accurately and legibly. Administers medications, including IV’s according to hospital policy and procedure. Administers IV therapy, chemotherapy and biologic therapies according to hospital policy and procedure. Follows Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) processes; Required to take ONS Chemo and Immunotherapy course upon hire and to complete course within the initial 90 days.

Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through completion of an accredited School of Nursing. Specialty units may have additional requirements according to their policy.

          Per Diem (PD) Employee Guidelines

1. Work Hour LimitationLeadership acknowledges that Per Diem (PD) employees are not permitted to work in excess of 1,820 hours per calendar year.
2. Scheduling Requirements for Applicants Seeking Extended HoursPD applicants requesting to work more than 24 hours per week shall be required to fulfill one weekend per monthortwo weekend shifts per month, as determined by the operational needs of the unit. Additionally, such employees will be scheduled for two holidays per year, rotating between winter and summer assignments.
3. Traditional Per Diem CommitmentApplicants seeking a traditional PD schedule (approximately 16 hours per month) must commit to a minimum of 4 hours per week, or an equivalent of 16 hours per month. Final approval of this arrangement will be at the discretion of the hiring manager.
4. Experience PreferenceA minimum of two years of nursing experience is preferred but not required. The hiring manager will determine eligibility based on the applicant’s interview performance and relevant professional experience.
