• Position Type: Contract
• Contract Duration: 3 months
• Pay Rate: $61.00 / Hour (USD)
• Shift / Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour nights (4x12); 18:45 07:15. 36 hours or 48 hours can be offered.

Job Summary

This is a travel nursing contract position on a fast-paced Ortho and Spine unit requiring nurses who can stay on top of patient pain management. The unit serves an average daily census of 37, with 39 rooms and 39 beds. The patient population includes orthopedic, neuro spine, med-surg, and post-surgical patients. Covid patients are no longer cohorted to a specific Covid unit; all Covid patients, unless they end up in the ICU, are cared for on all units wherever they are when confirmed.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to an orthopedic, neuro spine, med-surg, and post-surgical patient population on a fast-paced unit.
• Manage pain for ortho and spine patients, staying on top of pain management needs.
• Maintain assigned patient ratios (expected 5 6:1; can flex up to 7:1 only in extreme cases).
• Float as required to any other med-surg unit within the facility to meet staffing needs based on census.
• Work every other weekend; if an RN calls out on a weekend, they will be required to make that time up on a weekend.
• Care for Covid patients on the unit as they are no longer cohorted to a specific Covid unit (unless in ICU).

Required Skills

• Minimum 2 years of experience required; MUST HAVE ORTHO EXPERIENCE
• IV Start
• Telemetry
• BCLS certification
• NIH certification
• Epic experience (required for first-time travelers)

Preferred Skills

• ACLS certification
• Charge Nurse experience
• Level I Trauma experience

Education Requirements

• BCLS certification required
• NIH certification required
• Must pass EKG Testing prior to start for this specialty
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Ortho experience is mandatory
• The unit will accept first-time travelers with Epic experience

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

• Fast-paced unit; ortho and spine patients requiring nurses who can stay on top of pain management
• Expected patient ratio of 5 6:1; can flex up to 7:1 in extreme cases only
• 12-hour night shifts (18:45 07:15); 36 or 48 hours per week available
• Float requirement: travelers may be required to float to any other med-surg unit within the facility based on census
• Every other weekend required; call-outs on weekends must be made up on a weekend
• Block scheduling option available (F/S/S or S/S/M schedule)
• No holiday RTO approved
• RTO after booking is not allowed and is not allowed to be worked out onsite; any call-offs or additional RTO on unit could result in contract cancellation and DNR
• Maximum 7 days RTO for AYA Auto Offer

• No holiday RTO will be approved.
