The UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Walnut Creek (OR) consists of 2 surgical suites and 1 procedural room. Our primary focus is multidisciplinary team-based approach and staffing.

Services include, but are not limited to: Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Urology, Plastics, Ophthalmology, Dental, General Surgery, and GI

All patient care team members are responsible to meet patient needs, demonstrate willingness to learn new skills, and foster a harmonious work environment in which high quality patient care and customer service is consistently provided. Team members promote a cooperative working relationship with each other, physicians, other disciplines and the public by facilitating and enhancing communication, displaying honesty and respect, displaying sensitivity to cultural differences, and expressing and accepting feedback in a professional manner.

Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team.

Salary Information

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

Required Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of PACU experience as RN
  • Three (3) years of pediatric experience as RN
  • Excellent verbal and written skills. Must be well organized and detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and work independently and under pressure.
  • Basic computer keyboard skills and general PC knowledge.

  • Required On-Call commitment
  • This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of Critical Care experience as RN (PICU, ED, ICU)
  • BSN Preferred
  • Experience in Ambulatory Surgical Care Center

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.

  • Current healthcare provider CPR certification

  • Active American Heart Association PALS Certification

  • ASPAN certification strongly preferred

  • Maintain knowledge and abilities essential for safe and therapeutic nursing care.

  • Work within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act and be accountable to the NURSE SVC SUPV 2.

  • Function as an integral member of the nursing and interdisciplinary teams.

  • Perform established nursing procedures and assist with patient care management.

  • Provide nursing care for patients with complex needs with appropriate supervision.

  • Demonstrate service excellence and adhere to UCSF Medical Center''s PRIDE standards.

  • Keep the working environment clean, orderly, and safe, reporting any unsafe conditions.

  • Exhibit professionalism, tact, and cultural sensitivity in all interactions.

  • Protect patient privacy and adhere to confidentiality policies.
