What You’ll Do:
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult patients in a 24-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
  • Manage complex patient conditions including cardiac arrhythmias, post-surgical care, stroke protocols, and respiratory issues
  • Administer titratable medications such as Cardene, Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, Neo, and Levophed (with manager approval)
  • Perform critical procedures like chest tube management, tracheostomy care, lumbar drains, and support in dialysis as needed
  • Monitor patient progress using EMR (Meditech Expanse) and adjust treatments accordingly
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including hospitalists, RT, OT, PT, and ST for comprehensive patient care
  • Document care accurately, participate in unit orientation, and adhere to hospital policies

What You Need:
  • Valid RN license in Louisiana or applicable state
  • Minimum of 2 years RN experience in an acute care setting
  • BLS, ACLS, NIH certification required
  • Ability to pass EKG competency exam
  • Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Preferred to have experience with titratable medication management and complex patient conditions

This assignment is based in a reputable healthcare facility in Shreveport, LA, providing high-quality care in a fast-paced PCU environment. The unit specializes in managing cardiac and post-surgical patients, offering a supportive environment with extensive resources. Nurses will work rotating night shifts on a structured schedule, including every other weekend and holiday coverage. Orientation includes hospital-wide onboarding and unit-specific training to ensure a smooth transition.
