Description:
Radiation Oncology RN to support fast-paced radiation oncology team (2 physicians) working alongside another RN. Perform patient education, start IVs, assist providers in consults and follow-ups, manage side effects, coordinate concurrent chemo-radiation. Nasal pharyngeal scopes are commonly done by physicians with RN support. RN will triage calls and manage in baskets.
Day shift, M-F. No weekends, no on call, no float. 1st time traveller OK. Caribbean Blue scrubs (not provided). 2 years experience Required, 3%2B preferred.
Certifications Required: BLS (AHA only, no Heart Code). CHEMO cert, OCN, ONS/ONCC preferred.

Outpatient oncology; Radiation Oncology; Care of Patients with various types of cancer ( Bladder/Kidney Cancer, Brain cancer, Breast Cancer, Colorectal Cancer, Ear/Nose/Throat Cancers, Kidney Cancer, Liver Cancer, Lung cancer, Melanoma, Lymphoma/Non-Hodgkins lymphoma, Ovarian Cancer/Uterine Cancer, Prostate Cancer); Medications (Antiemetic, Antitumor, Antibiotic, Corticosteroids, Neupogen, Hormonal therapy); Oncologic Emergencies (Acute Tumor Lysis Syndrome (ATLS), Anaphylaxis, Hemorrhage, Sepsis, Spinal Cord Compression); IV push narcotic agents; Medication tolerance/dependence assessment; PCA pump management; Transdermal patches; Neutropenic precautions; Advanced directives; Hospice care; Patient/Family education and support; Withholding/withdrawing treatment; Radiation Therapy (External Radiation therapy (Teletherapy), Radiation safety precautions, Total Body Irradiation (TBI), Wound care); Symptom Management (Alteration in skin and mucous membranes, Altered mental status, Constipation/diarrhea, Dysphagia, Edema, Nausea/vomiting, Neuropathy); Post surgical care
