    At Valley Presbyterian Hospital, the Rapid Response Team (RRT) plays a vital role in identifying and responding to patients experiencing clinical deterioration before emergencies occur. As a Rapid Response Team Registered Nurse, you will leverage advanced critical care expertise to assess unstable patients, intervene early, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and improve patient outcomes throughout the hospital.

    This role is ideal for an experienced ICU nurse who thrives in fast-paced clinical environments and is passionate about patient safety, evidence-based practice, and mentoring others.

    What You'll Do

    • Respond rapidly to patients demonstrating signs of clinical deterioration or hemodynamic instability outside the ICU.
    • Assess, stabilize, and coordinate care for patients experiencing acute changes in condition.
    • Facilitate one-on-one patient management until stabilization or transfer to a higher level of care.
    • Assist with emergency procedures, Code Blue responses, and sepsis interventions.
    • Transport unstable patients safely to diagnostic procedures or higher levels of care.
    • Conduct proactive patient rounds throughout the hospital based on Rapid Response protocols.
    • Collaborate with physicians, hospitalists, ICU leadership, and bedside nurses to develop and implement treatment plans.
    • Communicate clinical assessments using the SBAR communication framework.
    • Document Rapid Response activities, patient outcomes, and interventions accurately within the electronic health record.
    • Serve as a clinical expert and resource for ICU staff and hospital nursing teams.
    • Participate in evidence-based practice initiatives, quality improvement activities, and patient safety programs.
    • Mentor new staff and support clinical education throughout the organization.
    • Promote exceptional patient and family experiences through compassionate, relationship-based care.

    Requirements

    • Minimum of 2 years of recent ICU (Critical Care) RN experience.
    • Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
    • ADN required; BSN preferred.
    • Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
    • Current AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
    • Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
    • Successful completion of the Rapid Response Team Education and Skills Validation examination (annually).
    • Ability to obtain and maintain LA City Fire Card within 30 days of hire.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI or equivalent) certification within 30 days of hire.

    Preferred

    • Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification.
    • Experience participating in Code Blue, Rapid Response, or hospital-wide emergency response teams.
    • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, or clinical resource experience in an ICU setting.
